I think Ben repeatedly takes Cowboy down and delivers GNP for 3 rounds before the referee steps in.

I pick the Funky One via late TKO

Cowboy is an awesome fighter. I just dont think he could stop the wrestling of Askren

    Who would you pick?

To be honest, I've never seen a Ben Askren fight. Would rather lay down and think to myself.

You should really take your crappy fantasy fights and creepy obsession with Askren to the wasteland

    Andrey Koreshev, currently 19-2
Lyman Good 19-4, currently in the UFC
Douglas Lima 29-6, current Bellator champ who just beat UFC cast off Lorenz Larkin (who btw beat Jorge Masidival and Neil Magny prior to leaving the UFC)
    Paul Daley 39-15
    Rick Hawn 21-4
    Karl Amoussou 24-7

He has fought plenty of decent fighters. He gets a lot of crap for not being in the UFC but he did try to get in. Dana didn't want him (at the time he was reeling off decisions though).

Like him or hate him, I've seen most of his recent one FC fights and while the competition is definitely a lower standard than he fought in Bellator, he goes through them like wet paper.

To assume he wouldn't do well in the UFC is ignorant.

? So I assume you are inferring that Khabib is a horrible fighter in the 155 weight class? I ask because he also has horrible standup and frankly Askren has better wrestling than anyone in the UFC roster. Who exactly is going to stuff his takedowns? Woodley who got taken down by Rory? Maia who got taken down and controlled by Shields? Lawler?

The two guys that Askren would have a ton of trouble with are GSP and Rory.

rofl best wrestling yet Jay hieron was able to stuff him easy or that other can who arguably won. Ben is not good and enjoying fighting cans. He's old and out his prime

The Funkster course! Best grappler around second to none would easily control Cowboy and hogtie him. True MMA fans can only appreciate this level of grappling, awesome to watch him man handle.

Sigh? I watched the fight. Askren won. Not to mention, Hieron had a very solid wrestling background, two-time state wrestling champ as well as a national Junior College Champion. But you knew that right?

Also that was only Askren's 9th fight. Hieron at the time was on his 26th pro fight and on a 10 fight streak.

I never said Ben would be champ but his wrestling is incredible. Old? Buddy he is younger than the current UFC welterweight champ but you knew that too right?

What I find puzzling is how you got so many likes. Created a couple of secondary accounts to like your own nonsense?

So your opinion is based on what? You don't like him as a fighter? No problem doesn't matter. But to give an opinion without anything resembling facts is a waste of time. You clearly have no clue who Hieron was, you had no idea how old Askren even is, you have no clue the guys he has fought.

Write something that actually makes sense and maybe I'll agree with you.

askren fought bums and guys who never had success in the ufc. I repeat Jay hiron had no success in the ufc. Facts is askren is fighting cans now and days and he's not getting younger . His skills are 2009 era of fighting and it's 2017 . Everybody evolved and he didn't simple as that . You can't just be a wrestling anymore in mma expecially in the ufc and that's all he is . Khabib has nasty gnp and wayyy better stand up then Ben Ass. No comparison

I think Askren wins BUT something inside me thinks Cerrone hits a triangle super early before they get too sweaty. Obviously Askren shoots instantly in this fight, obviously Askren gets the takedown-but would he sleep on Cowboys jitz? I think he might be so happy to get it to the floor that he would put himself in a dangerzone against Cerrone who is better on the floor than anyone gives him credit for. Or Askren just humps him for 15 minutes. That is more likely.

*EDIT* I would put down real money if I could get anything close to +300 that Cerrone doesn't get finished. It should be like +750. If the fight lasted forever Cerrone eventually wins.

I give up. You are clueless and no amount of logic can fix that.

Askren's first fight was in 2009....

As an FYI, Hieron joined the UFC when he was 38, 11-1 in his last 12 fights and lost to Ellenburger (who was at the edge of top 5 at the time) and the current UFC champ Woodley. No shame in either of those losses.

Yes he is fighting cans because that's all there is outside of Bellator and the UFC. He tried to get into the UFC and they didn't want him. Coker released him from Bellator as well likely because he had 6 decision wins in a row.

Khabib's standup is awful. Askren's is too but comparing them is meaningless because neither of them rely on it for anything other than closing the distance to get a takedown.

GNP, they both excel at but Askren is the better wrestler.

And BTW two of the guys that Askren beat are both considered top 10 welterweights currently by Sherdog. Khabib has just one current top 10 lightweight win.
