Country Music Discussion and Debate Thread

The thing for me with Church is him, Sturgill, and Stapleton seemed to be the only main "Nashville" guys that stuck with Merle at the end.

Merle's two sons sound disturbingly about their dad though. Merle was supposed to be at that festival last year but then passed away but his sons played his set and they sound ridiculously like their dad.

This dude puts on a good live show too:

When Travis Tritt plays, I listen for sure. He has that great country sound. Great voice.

He was at the festival I went to last year and went on before Aldean, and though I am not a fan of Aldean he puts on a good show.. I still think Tritt's show was better. Guy was CONSTANTLY playing music for about 45 minutes straight only pausing like 2-3 times at most.

Lyle Lovett is one of the classiest cats to ever walk a stage.

Bit of worthless trivia:

He was out at Rio Bravo Motocross Park in Houston a month ago doing some vintage MX stuff. He used to work at a bike shop called the cycle-shack, and for a time owned a Yamaha shop; only place in town that played Jazz when you went in.

This was taken at another track:

He even did a documentary about one the key figures to American Offroad and Motocross racing

I would punch luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, or Jake Owen if I saw them. That being said, I am probably the most avid listener of country music in here. Hank Williams is the greatest ever, period.
If anyone here wants a lesson in country music listen to anything by.
Roy acuff
Bob wills
Ernest tubb
Lefty frizell
Asleep at the wheel
Jim "the gentleman" reeves ( one of my favorites)
Eddy Arnold
Whisperin' Bill Anderson
Loretta Lynn(the greatest female artist country music has ever seen)
I have a love for country music that borders
on obsession. I study the traditions and history of the music from the 20"s

Straight up just listened to Toby Kieth for the first time. He's pretty good, but god damned cheesy. He seems like he rips off of everyone better than him, puts a radio friendly spin on it, then calls it his own.

I typically stick with more underground stuff like Robert Earle Keen, James McMurtry, Steve Earle, etc.

What do you guys suggest?

John Mellencamp. He is the GOATest. Better than Garth Brooks.

Can not stand "Bro Country."

Alt-Country I like!

New Trace Adkins album out today.

One of my favorite concerts was when mark Chesnutt played near my hometown at a local bar called Cowboy Jims. We were front row and he even asked for requests throughout the night. You better believe I requested Old Country!
