Could Marina Moroz go to 125?

She fucked up jojo who is no slouch, dont think she should be cut just yet.
That was her UFC debut as well lol. She's 3-3 in the UFC now, never been stopped and fought some big names, she's still got a lot to show in the UFC just needs a better approach I think. Needs to make girls respect her hands and get that clinch entry with authority.

She has a semi weak chin and no power or wrestling, 125 would be a bad idea.

Does anyone know what weight she used to box at? I can't find this information. Earlier in her career she was subbing girls left and right but she just seems to be struggling to impose her game on these higher-level opponents, and when she's stuck on her feet she is really struggling to do damage.

She's a good bit taller and longer than most of her opponents and usually looks pretty strung out at weigh ins.

Do you think maybe a more muscular approach could benefit her?

Moroz used to fight at flyweight before going to the UFC. Some of her flyweight fights were closer to 122lbs. I am not sure if weight cuts have impacted her performance or not. Prior to her entry to the UFC she had success with submissions by armbar, only her win over Calderwood really fit that narrative in the UFC.

In those earlier fights she was often not actually winning her fights, she would either get taken down or get knocked down and she would find the armbar off her back while getting ground and pounded. Moroz had a great and often times weird ability to absorb punishment and get that armbar. Fighters are probably more aware of what she does in getting those armbars and are better prepared for that from her.

Her striking seems to have deteriorated some over the past few years too. She has changed camps a few times since her entry to the UFC too. She needs better coaching that plays to her strengths. She was a better pressure fighter in the past but she stays outside too often now. She does have a reach advantage and it is good to develop that into her skills but she needs more in and out and less spamming combos. Accuracy. And better takedown skills so she can use her bjj/armbar attacks more effectively.

(Edit) She is still young enough to get back on track. Better sooner then later. It would be a shame to see her continue her slide into being a middling level fighter who throws her punches mostly at air.

Completely agree, frustrating to see her not fighting to her strengths effectively.
