Or he was just too tired and gave up? He didn't even fight the hands, is that a submission that's hard/impossible to get out from? Asking the bjj experts here.

You don't need to be an expert to know that you're not getting out of that position with anybody decent, let alone world class like Khabib there.

It was a neck crank and not a choke.
Could he have got out of the Nate one?

You do that move Sonnen did last weekend against Fedor. Works every time in college.

once Khabib extracted enough juice, possibly

Herb shoulda let it go so we could see the first decapitation in the octagon.

It's definitely not impossible to get out from, the "choke" wasn't even under the chin. It's hard to even call it a "choke", that is one of those positions that is uncomfortable as hell and you gotta tough it out till your opponents arms tire. Some guys would rather tap and not risk a broken jaw though. Regardless, if you don't fight the hands and allow your opponent to get his behind your neck, your fucked 90% of the time.

He did not need to get out of the 'choke'. He could have just stayed in the choke for the next 1:57 and waited for the round to end. He was not going to pass out. But he does not have the heart.

It wasn't a choke for christ sake. How can you choke someone when you're squeezing and twisting a jaw?

it was a neck crank and that is a specific technique different from choking in BJJ and judo

LoL

Cause if you catch the glove the moment he wraps around you can peel it off with fingers pushing your body back.

Yes, he could have gotten out of it. Only risk was a broken jaw. No air or blood restrictions were in play.

It doesn’t even look that bad other than everyone is acting like khabib is some heavyweight strength having man beast.

Some roided up heavyweight cranking on a neck like that might be scary tho (Brock, ubereem, jds) but not any lightweight.

There are many Youtubes educating how various martial arts use different methodology based on their principles did a quick google found this.......

Yeah that's the name "Neck crank"

A spinal lock is a multiple joint lock applied to the spinal column, which is performed by forcing the spine beyond its normal ranges of motion. This is typically done by bending or twisting the head or upper body into abnormal positions. Commonly, spinal locks might strain the spinal musculature or result in a mild spinal sprain, while a forcefully and/or suddenly applied spinal lock may cause severe ligament damage or damage to the vertebrae, and possibly result in serious spinal cord injury, strokes, or death.[citation needed] Spinal locks and cervical locks are forbidden in IBJJF Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitions,[1] amateur MMA,[2][3] multiple forms of no Gi Jiu Jitsu,[4] Judo,[5] and other martial arts.[6] However, professional MMA and some Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitions[7] do permit spinal locks and, particularly, neck cranks, and such moves are trained in various MMA and Brazilian jiu-jitsu schools. The move was used by Khabib Nurmagomedov to tap out Conor McGregor at UFC 229.

Spinal locks can be separated into two categories based on their primary area of effect on the spinal column: spinal locks on the neck are called neck cranks and locks on the lower parts of the spine are called spine cranks.

I can't stand Conor or his merry bad of Conortards but you guys saying he should have toughed it out for 2 minutes are laughable.

Yeah, Conor should take a broken/dislocated jaw just to appease some shitposters on Sherdog.

Dude was dead tired, neck cranks/brazilian Jawbreakers can cause serious damage, and no one who trains thinks he pussed out.
