Mexican promoter Fernando Beltran, who works closely with four-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, is hoping to finalize a fight with Miguel Angel Cotto, also a four division champion, for the month of December. Beltran announced that Marquez would return to the ring, tentatively this coming July 29th. "It's not a secret that we want to do that fight [between Marquez and Cotto] for this year and it could be for December. They're talking about Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor for the month of November," said Beltran to ESPN Deportes. - See more at: http://www.boxingscene.com/cotto-vs...ber-says-beltran--116885#sthash.Q7kBwpQ5.dpuf

The meetings between former world champions and future Hall of Famers, Miguel Angel Cotto of Puerto Rico and Mexico's Juan Manuel 'Dinamita' Marquez, have always been very cordial.

The latest of these came during a meeting between the two at an exclusive restaurant in Orlando, Florida where they discussed at the table the possibility of an interesting clash between the two of them before the end of 2017. But there are so many rumors and even the recent comments by Mexican promoter Fernando Beltrán in an interview with ESPN Deportes, about the possibility of a fight between Marquez and Cotto in December, the Puerto Rican star went straight to the point. "If (Marquez) wants to fight, it's time to decide, say something and get things done. If it's not what he wants, it's better to keep his mouth shut," Cotto said to Carlos Narvaez.

Beltran, who works closely with Márquez, stated that he's working to make a comeback fight for the boxer in July and then a fight with Cotto for the month of December. "Juan Manuel Marquez and I have spoken on several occasions. We met him in Orlando to talk about the fight. I spoke directly to him, without intermediaries. Juan Manuel knows what our plans are and heard them from my mouth at that restaurant in Orlando," Cotto said. Cotto and Márquez, two former four division world champions with a great careers and who are in the closing moments of their careers, have long been out of the ring, especially the Mexican veteran.

Marquez has not fought for 37 months without climbing in there. Cotto will be 21 months inactive in August when he is expected to face Yoshihiro Kamegai at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, in a fight for the World Junior Boxing Organization (WBO) junior middleweight title. Cotto, 36, has a record of 40-5 and 33 KOs. Márquez is 43 years old and has a record of 56-7-1 mark and 40 knockouts. The last time he climbed into a ring was in May 2014 when he defeated Mike Alvarado by unanimous decision to win the WBO welterweight International crown. - See more at: http://www.boxingscene.com/cotto-ma...p-his-mouth-shut--116954#sthash.TrTFueOn.dpuf
