Cosplay Anyone?

The hottest girl I've ever known and even seen is into cosplay. She's a little bit weird, but she's a perfect physical specimen. Her face and body are just ridiculously perfect. I'm not exaggerating, either. I live in Las Vegas. I work in a casino and I see hot girls all day, every day and yet this girl is still the most gorgeous girl I've ever seen. I'm debating whether I should post her pic or not.

I think since it is a gathering of usually shy and awkward people, this is there one time where they are not the minority. They are around people who share the same interests as them and it's a chance for them to let loose and have fun.

I was just saying something similar in another thread about cosplayers. When I went to the event I had women hitting on me left and right. Unfortunately, my girlfriend went with me and I didnt pursue any of their advances. As someone who is very shy and quiet, it was quite overwhelming and surprising to see so many attractive women taking an interest in me.

My theory is that most of the women that attend these events are just like me and spend most of their time playing games or reading comics/manga which means they dont have much of a social life. The cosplay allows them to be themselves and finally get the attention they dont receive in their everyday lives. It so easy to strike up a conversation with them too if you are dressed up or know who they're dressed up as. I talked to Psylocke for nearly 40 minutes about the original X-Men cartoon series and DBZ which are two topics Ive never been able to discuss with any of my ex-girlfriends.

Now that I think about it...I should really go to another event since Im single.

Honestly I used to think it was kind of dumb, cause when I thought of them I thought of anime nerds playing LAIR and shit like a bunch of assholes. But last year I went to a Comic Convention with my friend and made myself an awesome comic book character costume, and now I'm kinda hooked on it.

I'm always thinking of a new character I can bring to life, and have gotten pretty decent at it. I've even had people pay me to make a costume for them, which is kinda cool.

I'm working on 3 new costumes for this upcoming con in November. I still don't like a lot of the god damn nerds it attracts, because some of them are pretty damn nerdy, but there's some pretty cool people there too. And people really appreciate the work you put into a good costume.

Anybody else into it at all?

Interesting pictures, some of the ladies look incredibly hot. But while in these costumes, then what? Just sit around and talk about your day jobs?
 
I have a feeling if I got into this it would turn into me spending more on cosplay than regular clothes. Always something I wanted to try though.
 
I don't think it is ok for dudes to do this in public. I remember being in the hood once and this early 20s black kid was just walking around in a naruto getup and other little kids were like "Look At diz Naruto N word"

I guess you have never attended a big convention like Comic-con, or Dragoncon

There is all sorts of shit to do for people that like that sort of stuff. Panels with celebrities from movies, TV, comics.. that fans can interact with. Gaming rooms for all sorts of roleplaying, video gaming, tapletop..whatever. Vendors selling interesting shit. Dragoncon, the only I've been to, hosts all sorts of clubs and parties with drinking, and dancing, as well as private parties going on in the various hotel rooms that makes up the convention centers.

If you into the geekier type of stuff and like sci-fi, comics, fantasy, horror, anime then it can be really fun.

I have a badass yukata and some wooden sandals that I bought in Takayama. I've been toying with the idea of getting a big straw hat and fake sword and going sometime as Jubei from Ninja Scroll.
 
the people I know who are into it are really, really sad people. I'm sure this isn't indicative of the entire culture, but man, these folks are trying to escape whatever life they're already living.

Either way, hope its a fun, healthy hobby for you
