Contra was tough but fair IMO
TMNT was tough and unfair but beatable, battletoads and ninja gaiden were just stupid though

I remember his ghost n goblins video where he used arcade footage with cheats because he couldn't pass the first level.

if you can beat that game w/o the famous Konami code (same goes for Lifeforce, btw), you are fucking legend and deserve as much props as possible.

It's really not that hard if you've played it hundreds of times. Yeah enemies are randomly spawned but it's extremely predictable. Get to level five without dying and you're pretty much guaranteed to beat it as long as you aren't a complete fool
