Thought this was a cool piece of wrestling trivia intertwined with MMA and the big fight on Saturday. Saw a Reddit thread on it.

Man Genki got robbed so bad in that fight lol

Also, this means Floyd might retire as the lineal BFA champ.

Didn't know titles transferred over sports.

You're right, I'm pretty sure Gunn-Butterbean was a straight boxing match, so really, Gunn lost it to Minowa, who lost it to Tamura, who then lost it to Taei Kin, who lost it to Zelg Galesic, who lost it to Jacare Souza, who lost it to Mousasi that same night. Mousasi dropped it to King Mo, in kind of a dull fight. King Mo would drop it to Rafael Cavalcante in strikeforce, who then proceeds to get knocked out by Dan Henderson. Henderson would drop it to Machida, beginning the Lyoto Machida era, which ended when he lost his next fight to Phil Davis. Phil Davis would lose to Anthony Johnson, who later lost to Daniel Cormier, who recently lost to doped up Jon Jones. So, the title is kind of in limbo now, pending the outcome of the USADA investigation into Jon Jones.

Mayweather retired as the BFA champ. Seriously, WWE should make a title belt and present it to Money lol

Lineal titles aren't really dependent on drug tests or anything of that nature. It's an old-school "beat the man" kind of thing.

An example would be Bigfoot Silva being the last official Elite XC champ. He tested positive during his reign. Does his title just disappear because of drug test? It would make no sense.
