In fairness, I don't think anyone at all is trying to pretend it's relevant. It's a retired boxer, getting in the ring with an mma fighter in an exhibition match. There's no title on the line and no talk of contendership.
As for it being a money fight while we all struggle, sports only make the money the market will bear. They're not paid with tax dollars, their money is directly tied to "struggling" people purchasing their product, the same as any other sport or any other business for that matter. If you're struggling, can't swing the ppv purchase and don't like the fight anyway, just don't buy it. That'll be $20 or so less that each of these guys gets and you've done your part

Realistically it is the only possibility. Conor is not winning a decision and being that there are standing 8 counts, Conor has to hurt him badly or flatline him completely.
Even if he gets him in trouble and can't finish he will most likely lose way more rounds than he will win. He has a punchers chance until he gets tired and then it will be boxing school.
