or he just thought that he had a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a playful brawl with an mma legend and thought why pussyfoot around when he could experience (close to) the real thing? i doubt he regrets it. he probably tells the story proudly.

No, it's not really like that at all. Getting KO'd is bad for your brain....You are unlikely to hurt yourself in an arm wrestling match if you don't do anything stupid. I doubt the guy brags about getting KO'd, but he would have certainly bragged if he had KO'd Condit, which is what he was trying to do. Once full force punches are being thrown, its about egos, livelihoods and reputation, and it is not really 'playful'. Sure Condit was game for KOing this guy, but this guy is delusional for thinking he wasn't gonna get KO'd approaching how he did. That's all I'm saying.
