Condit (28 Finishes) Slams Woodley (Boring, Play-It-Safe Fighter)

Is Woodley an exciting fighter?

Dude he didn't even really say anything bad about Woodley, he said he sees where the critics are coming from. It isn't like he's out there calling him a boring undeserving champ like everyone around here

He shouldn't say anything about Woodley at all or he will get slammed and his leg busted again.

Carlos Condit didn’t earn the nickname “The Natural Born Killer” by playing it safe during his fights.

The former WEC welterweight champion and UFC interim titleholder goes for the finish when he sees the opportunity, to which his 28 finishes among his 30 career wins attest. He’s also an eight-time bonus winner with six Fight of the Nights to his credit, and his UFC 195 bout with Robbie Lawler was MMA Fighting’s 2016 Fight of the Year.

So when Condit hears the criticisms directed at current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, whom many consider a play-it-safe fighter, he understands why.

“I can definitely see where the critics are coming from,” Condit said on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour. “We’re athletes but we’re also entertainers, people buy the pay-per-view to be entertained. That’s part of this. This is show business. I know that winning is super important and a gameplan is super important, but at some point you have to, this is the hurt business and you gotta to try to put your opponent out.”

. . .

“You know he’s obviously a super, super talented dude,” Condit said. “I did watch the last fight against Maia. . . . At a time where he could he really could have turned it on and tried to finish, he didn’t.”

Condit lost some of his excitement credibility with me in the Diaz fight. That was pathetic

As a huge Condit fan I agree that Woodley beats him 9/10 in a 3 rounder(5 rounds is more 6/10 for me). But he was asked a question and answered

Not a big Woodley fan. Would have liked for his last couple of title fights to be exciting. But he is the champ and why take big risks and lose the belt. It isn't just him. There are two guys in the cage to make a boring fight.

Rofl that's what you call Condit slamming Woodley?

That was some of the most rational and fair criticism I've read in the past 5 years.

"The Natural Born runner"

I wonder who has more finishes between those two

Man the internet has made people overreact and oversell stories, facebook bait thread style. I would hardly call a mild criticism "slamming" Woodley

"The Natural born KKKiller"

...according to Woodley X.

Sorry, Woodley plays it safe since he got the belt.
But fucking Condit has no fucking ground to stand of.
After his despicable fight against Diaz, one that he run the whole fight, he went 2-5 and looked terrible in most of them.

he needs to STFU.

And no, talking trash to the champ won't award him one more undeserving title shot.

90% finish rate and people are still bitching about one fight.

He deserves the backlash. he single handily ruined what should have been the most exciting fight in history. And he knows it. And he used baby kicks to do it.

One fight out of like 40. You should check out his other fights.

I've seen plenty of Condit's fights. He is usually an exciting fighter. My critique isn't of his entire fighting career, rather that he too has fought strategically and shouldn't be critical.

But....one time. It was literally only one time.

I love Condit and he is right.

Only thing I didnt like is how he brought up Maia. Carlos got choked out in less than a minute against Maia.

Maia is like a damn boa constrictor. There is a reason Woodley kept his distance. Carlos got taken down, gave up his back and submitted ridiculously fast. I love Condit but that is one fight he can't criticize Woodley
