That's not the definition of communism.

If you stated the actual tenets that define communism, as outlined by the people who developed the philosophy, and compared that to North Korea or Cuba, you would understand that they are not communists - in the same way that N. Korea is not a 'democratic republic'. In order to label something as x or y, it must meet the definition of x or y.

You can argue the pros and cons of communism, which is fine, but every government that has claimed to be communist, are in name only, and do not represent what the actual philosophy espouses. Maybe it's pie in the sky bullshit, but it never has truly been practiced.

Sorry to intervene but from what I've seen some people (at least Russian speakers) sees North Korea as some sort of Korean variation of national socialism. There is plenty of official papers or propaganda and stuff from North Korea that was translated to Russian. If I'm not mistaken, North Korean idealogy is against multiculturalism, they see Korean people (or culture, can't remember and too lazy to read it again) as superior and I think they see Japanese people as little brothers/Korean people who was fooled by capitalists. I think it's the same like a Nazi stuff about Scandinavian people and German people. Modern Russia kinda have some sort of freaks who believes that Ukrainians/Belarussians doesn't exist and it's just Russians who was brainwashed by West to believe that they are not Russians. Some thinks that Polish people and Russian people are the same people but evil Anglo-Saxons brainwashed Polish people to believe that they are (Polish people) exist.
