I'm guessing they met and Comey quickly asessed him to be... not the tightest vault to lock secrets in.
I'll bet the intelligence community is in fucking LOVE with having a POTUS who might just blurt out whatever

lol we've only had 6 directors and they've all been pretty well know in their times.

Like no one knew who Hoover was?

Both Comey and Mueller have been making news since the Bush administration.

The deputy attorney general laid out why James Comey was fired

In a memo to Sessions, Rosenstein laid out the reasoning for firing Comey.

Rosenstein said that over the past year, "the FBI's reputation and credibility have suffered substantial damage" that has "affected the entire Department of Justice."

"I cannot defend the Director's handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton's emails, and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken," Rosenstein said. "Almost everyone agrees that the Director made serious mistakes; it is one of the few issues that unites people of diverse perspectives."

He pointed to Comey's July announcement of the FBI's view that "no charges are appropriate" in the Justice Department's investigation into then-presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she served as secretary of state.

The deputy attorney general said Comey was "wrong to usurp the attorney general's authority" by going public with the FBI's recommendation.

"It is not the function of the director to make such an announcement," Rosenstein wrote. "At most, the director should have said the FBI had completed its investigation and presented its findings to federal prosecutors. The director now defends his decision by asserting that he believed Attorney General Loretta Lynch had a conflict. But the FBI director is never empowered to supplant federal prosecutors and assume command of the Justice Department."

Cool story. Except that both Rosenstein and Trump have denied that the memo was why Comey was fired. (Note that Trump has now tied the memo back in, but this explanation is 10 days after the firing, so even less credible than the retracted reasons).

Even if they hadn't denied it, you'd have to be a fucking rube to think that Trump fired Comey because he decided to bring up her emails in public.

And even if we ignored all the above, the fact that Comey fucked up doesn't magically make Trump professional.

    Jeez.....breaking...

WASHINGTON — President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.

“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.”

"I'm grateful to you for informing me three times that I am now under investigation" might be one of the saddest things ever put in a letter of dismissal.

Calling Comey "crazy" and a "nutjob" - Trump has his projection. To the Russian Foreign Minister and Russian Ambassador who is in thick with the current FBI investigations no less.

The WH is absolutely leaking like a sieve. Read by one American source to the NYT, corraborated by two others. Also Spicey knew better than to even try to deny it - admitted it, but then tried to change the subject to the illegal leaks putting national security at risk. His boss is the biggest national security risk. Look in the mirror Spicey.

He looked so happy in those pictures too. With the 2 Russians. Like a kid meeting his sports heroes.

    Couldn't keep his mouth shut.

During the campaign Trump actually said he could shoot someone and his base would still support him. That tells you a lot about a large chunk of the people who support Trump no matter what.
