College Coach Mike Leach Tweets Fake Conspiracy Video

The Whattabout Response Team out in force.

We don't need these people. There is not a reason for them to be here.
It's not even whataboutis! It's exaggerating the other side's position. "oohhh we must be literally hitler" great argument for believing moron shit

Everyone here MUST BE extra outraged at this freak because the man is a Trump supporter. If you are not COMPLETELY outraged and then some then you are a literal slave driver and likely directly related to Hitler.

Great reaction to disinformation; "you just want me not to believe this because Trump!!"

Very reasonable, adult reaction to the OP. Glad you didn't immediately attempt to drive the OP's position into comical extremism that is in NO WAY present in this thread....

Oh wait. That's exactly what you did.

Newsflash: if the traditional sources of news did their job with more integrity we wouldn’t have as big of a problem with this.

Newsflash: WE hold these sources accountable. We do so by educating and informing ourselves and holding these stories up to the reality of our lives. Anyone here parroting FoxNews while calling for accountability in journalism is completely full of shit. Those people don't want accountability, if they did, they'd be the ones holding the networks accountable.

i think the left and right are equally complicit in eating and shitting disinformation.

I think that's incredibly inaccurate, and you can very easily make two polls(with issues from this thread) to see if it's true.

One poll asking "Do you STILL believe Trump called all immigrants 'animals'", and another asking "Do you STILL believe the Pizzagate conspiracy was true".

Which poll do you think would garner more yes votes?

Beautiful, brilliant left wingers would never fall for untrue and misleading information, except you know, half the WR left wingers fell the same fake news just recently when Trump was talking about MS13, and that wasn't just a stupid meme, it was CNN, NBC, NYT, multiple congressmen all taking a clear discussion about MS13 and saying he's calling all immigrants "animals". Oh, but some football coach that nobody gives a fuck about posted a stupid video, so lets' get outraged.

Can you do me a favor so I can see just how prevalent this is on both sides? Post 2 more examples of false conspiracies the left has fallen for and perpetuated.

And really, the present examples say it all. The left fell for: the news not properly quoting someone to give it the correct context.

The right fell for: believing a pizza place was a secret pedophile lair until one of them actually showed up there with a gun.

That says it all right there.

I'm telling you a fact right now. I'm not wondering, or questioning if it happens. People on this forum regularly post things that they read in memes because they thought they were true. It happens on a daily basis, it's a normal occurrence.

Also, if "memes are jokes" then why are so many of them not even designed to be funny? A lot of them are just propaganda with no joke involved whatsoever. Fake quote, fake facts, fake statistics, etc.
Well, if your current tactic of painting them all in the same basket and calling them names isn't helping to educate them, try a different approach?

Bingo, there was a poster sodapop(iirc) he would spam discussion with tweets and memes as if they were actual facts .

I'm not, lol. Are you following my posts? Do you want me to give specific names?

Sure, Bush did 9/11, about 50 race hoaxes, and here's a BBC article about the rise of fake news on the left in the last few years, and the fact that you think it's a right wing problem while being one of the people who just a few days ago thought Trump called all immigrants "animals" says that you are one of the people who reads things you want to be true uncritically and still don't know when you're being duped or misled.

https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-39592010

But a recent study did effectively debunk the stereotype that fake news tends to be shared more by uneducated people or those with right-leaning politics, as compared to other groups.

On the left if you're consuming fake news you're 34 times more likely than the general population to be a college graduate

Here is an article about an Oxford study that concluded, "On Facebook, they found that "extreme hard-right" conservatives shared more fake news stories than all other political groups combined, while on Twitter, Trump supporters consumed the most fake news."

http://www.newsweek.com/liberals-dont-share-believe-fake-news-much-right-wing-study-finds-800219

It's obvious, it's in front of your face all the time, and it is backed up by research. The right wing is producing and consuming massive amounts of "fake news" or propaganda, as the rest of us call it.

I mean, even in this thread you have a bunch of guys defending the spread of propaganda under the guise of, "It's supposed to be funny!" Lol. This website is full of it, and it's mo coming from the right.

Lol. Yes, making shit up is hilarious. No punchline needed, just make something up and tell as many people as possible. Hilarious stuff!

The real question you need to ask yourself, is why do right-wing conspiracies run amok in society, and why do so many people fall for them so easily?

It's a real problem, and it deserves some serious thought.

So get a PhD since you’re obviously of higher intellect and write a scientific paper? It’s doable since you believe deeply in this hypothesis.

Sure, Bush did 9/11,

This never was, and definitely IS NOT a "leftist conspiracy". Take a look around at those who feel 9/11 was an inside job, and tell me what you interpret their political position to be.

about 50 race hoaxes

Name them. If I said "about 200 stupid conspiracies were believed by the right", would that be factual counter to what you're saying?

, and here's a BBC article about the rise of fake news on the left in the last few years,

Oh an article from the BBC? Concrete proof right there. Wanna actually try making this count:

What were the conspiracies it cited and where are supporting examples of the left believing them?

and the fact that you think it's a right wing problem while being one of the people who just a few days ago thought Trump called all immigrants "animals"

Not a conspiracy. The fact that this is THE ONLY example you can produce should say it all.

says that you are one of the people who reads things you want to be true uncritically and still don't know when you're being duped or misled.

Pizzagate, deepstate, Mueller's a democratic plant, Obama's a muslim, Obama wasn't born in America, Hilary is demonic, Hilary's dying, George Soros owns all media

vs

1 time Trump was misquoted, while struggling to articulate like he always does.

And that's literally just off the top of my head.

And? What do you think this highlights?

Yeah, more memes you guys fell for that don't accurately represent the positions of the left. Or did you think this was an example of something else?

I asked you for just 2, TWO more examples of the left swallowing bullshit conspiracies, and you couldn't even do it. You brought up a conspiracy with more believers on the right and center, an article from the BBC for fucks sake, and a meme.

Thank you for completely proving my point.

Oxford already did the study.

It's incredible that not spreading idiotic propaganda requires a "higher intellect" lol. I'm pretty sure my 8 year old niece has reached the level of intellect necessary to not believe and share absurd propaganda.

Pizzagate, deepstate, Mueller's a democratic plant, Obama's a muslim, Obama wasn't born in America, Hilary is demonic, Hilary's dying, George Soros owns all media
Hillary had xyz person killed
Sandy hook was govt plot to grab guns
Vegas was govt plot to grab guns
FFS any mass shooting is a govt plot to grab guns
Jade helm/ fema concentration camps
Climate change is a chinese hoax

And the funniest part: you can STILL find people on right believing crap like this wholesale.

Just look at the pic with the "Mueller" quote. If I made a thread with just the quote, and posted "hey, guess what, a republican said this...." they'd immediately call me a liar and demand proof. Put it over a picture of Mueller and throw it on facebook, and it's fact.

The hilarious part is, in that situation, me the picture wouldn't be saying anything different, but the level of acceptance would dramatically swing just based on the framing. Scary, scary shit.

Yeah but guys, remember; it's totally equal because CNN said Trump called people animals, when he only called some of them animals.

So it's clearly 50/50.

not to mention my state governor mobilized the state gaurd in response to "jade helm"

I did, and you just say no. Trump's a Russian agent, Trump pissed on hookers in Russia because he hates Obama, Trump has dementia, Trump beat Melania and had the secret service cover it up with a fake surgery, Senior editor from fucking newsweek said Trump was in a mental hospital, here's a list of 16 fake hate crimes just from the election year, some of which were covered by CNN and Buzzfeed, not just posted on some rando's facebook wall or on Alex Jones.

http://dailycaller.com/2016/12/31/2016-the-year-of-the-hoax-hate-crime/

You think this is a bunch of republicans?

Simply stunning that you think it's people on the right who think Bush orchestrated 9/11. Yeah, those damn right wingers blaming republicans to cover for Muslim terrorists.

Here's another article from the left wing Atlantic about the left falling for fake news with examples, since you think the BBC article must be lying since you don't want to believe it. It says 20% of the information from popular left wing facebook pages Occupy Democrats, The Other 98%, and Addicting Info was fake. Occupy Democrats alone has 7.4 million followers.

Some are relative newcomers to this scene. There is The Palmer Report, the publication of record for anti-Trump conspiracy nuts who don’t care about the credibility of the record; Shareblue, a viral news site that aspires, according to its founder David Brock, to become the “Breitbart of the left”; and Patribotics, home to Mensch’s Russia-related rumormongering.

Meanwhile, old-school platforms like Reddit and Daily Kos continue to host freewheeling forums that attract the kind of occasionally enlightening, occasionally deranged conversations that tend to thrive in those environments. And the HuffPost contributor platform—an un-vetted, unedited section of the site that operates apart from its professional journalism—has been a vehicle for some of the most bizarre, and outright craziest, content to go viral on the left in recent years.

Just this month, editors were forced to delete a contributor post that began, “Impeachment and removal from office are only the first steps; for America to be redeemed, Donald Trump must be prosecuted for treason and — if convicted in a court of law — executed.” And throughout last year’s primaries, Seth Abramson, assistant professor of english and writing specialist at the University of New Hampshire (and a former public defender), used his HuffPost perch to churn out a procession of increasingly delusional blog posts explaining why Bernie Sanders would likely win the Democratic nomination.

Abramson’s arguments not only denied political realities and delegate math as the race wore on; they often denied basic human logic. But thanks to the hordes of Bernie fans desperately scouring the internet for some hope to cling to, Abramson’s posts consistently went uber-viral. (He eventually wrote a post defending this shameless play for clicks as a form of “experimental journalism” that embraced “the multi-dimensionality of metanarrative.” The Washington Post’s Matt O’Brien responded via Twitter: “Area Academic Writes Barely Comprehensible Defense of Lying.”) These days, Abramson’s main platform is Twitter, where he has over 150,000 followers, and specializes in indictment stories in the style of criminal complaints.

^ This is the other excuse that is hurting society. People blame their own idiotic mistakes on other people. It's pretty easy to not fall for, and then spread ridiculous propaganda. Have some accountability.
Explanations are excuses to people that have trouble thinking and making simple distinctions.

Parts of the american right really love their conspiracy videos. Those nutbags really bring the lulz. It´s not a coincidence that 80%+ of fake news during the election targeted the american right. Usefull idiots.

I (regrettably) ventured over to greatawakening and I guess QAnon (whoever tf that is) posted this video and their response was he was obviously hacked to destroy credibility of the movement lmao

That is fucking hilarious.
