Well, not genius on a savant type of genius, but, aside of some exhausting repetitions in different books, sometimes Zizek comes with some serious thought provoking stuff. And he is surprisingly one of the few intellectuals in our times who actually understands the issues he talks about (like, surprisingly, theology) and give them the proper credit before rejecting the common solutions.
And he is entertaining as heck, his call on Chomsky inconsistency was at least extremely enjoyable to watch.
And the funny thing is that, because of his approach on things, and critique of PC culture and the progressive left, he is being accused of being a nazi.
His opinion on the refugee crisis is actually pretty good.
And I am far from being a left winger, but I must give him credit, he is a left winger, but no brainless idiotic virtue signaling leftie.
Curious note: Decades ago, when i was in college, the old school Marxists HATED the Frankfurt school lined students. Their main accusation was that they where watered down and that they were idealistic Marxists ignoring the philosophical assumptions of Marxism.
As crazy as the Marxists were, there was still some honesty in their claims, now the Frankfurt guys, they sounded like nice too-good assholes who coudln't give a direct answer on what they really wanted to acomplish
