China and Russia protests against South Korea's and Japan's anti-ballistic missile shields

Russia and China, especially China, can go get bent. China didn't put their barking dog on a leash, so we have to do it.

NorKo doesn't get to threaten the United States without us putting in measures that will render them neutered. If that dog takes a bite at us, it will have to be put down completely.

They are enablers. They don't get to criticize.

China can cry all they want. They are the ones backing North Korea in the first place. When we get rid of the delusional far kid by force i can't wait for China to get flooded by millions of North Korean refugees. The chickens have come home to roost.

So they're upset about a system designed exclusively for defense purposes that is being installed in countries that they are having territorial disputes that can be handled by international courts? That's quite telling on what their intentions are.

The issue with defense is that in a MAD scenario defense could be seen as offense.

That being said, if China doesnt wants those shields, it should d something about fat Kim.

China always complains about air defense and missile def installations, but they them selves are militarizing the south China sea islands at an alarming rate they have no moral highground in this issue.

They better choose what to give up the influence over North Korea or their expansion in the SCS region.

But what is the point of including S. Korea and Japan in a MAD scenario other than being hostages?

Additional THAAD deployment likely next week

Deployment of four more Terminal High Altitude Area Defense launchers may begin as early as next week, local media reported Friday citing unnamed South Korean and US military sources.

According to reports, Seoul’s Ministry of National Defense and US Forces Korea are likely to transport four additional THAAD launchers, and materials required for their temporary deployment to the site in Seongju, North Gyeongsang Province, next week.

The THAAD deployment was agreed during the Park Geun-hye administration. There are two launchers and a powerful radar already deployed and in operation in Seongju, but the new Moon Jae-in administration had suspended further rollout, citing the need for a thorough environmental impact survey. A typical THAAD battery consists of six launchers and a radar.

However, following North Korea’s ballistic missile in late July, President Moon Jae-in ordered concerned government bodies to begin the process of deploying four additional launchers on a temporary basis.

“The Ministry of Environment requested additional information on a number of occasions, and judging by the process that is currently in progress, (the environmental impact study) appears to be nearing the end,” an unnamed Defense Ministry official was quoted as saying by local news outlets. Once the environmental assessment is over, early results of which suggested that the launchers have no significant environmental effect, the ministry and US forces are likely to begin the deployment process.

Aug. 31 (UPI) -- U.S. military helicopters have been transporting equipment to South Korea's THAAD site for two days, following a brief confrontation between local protesters and South Korea police trying to facilitate passage of U.S. military vehicles this week.

The presence of helicopters in Seongju is a sign the United States and South Korea are going ahead with the deployment of additional THAAD interceptor launchers, as announced in July, Yonhap reported Thursday.

Seongju is the location of permanently installed THAAD launchers.

The site was once a golf course owned by Lotte, a South Korean conglomerate that may have been the target of recent Chinese embargoes.

On Thursday, one Chinook helicopter and four UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters transported construction equipment and troops to the site, bypassing the protesters below, according to the report.

Earlier on Wednesday more than a dozen helicopters were seen transporting portable oil tanks.

One resident said he could "see a small dump truck and a forklift" adjacent to the THAAD site.

About 40 activists have remained near the Soseong-ri village hall, outside the former golf course.

They are "nervous" and are planning another anti-THAAD campaign ahead of the additional deployment, according to Yonhap.

The activists have also rejected results from a joint environmental survey that indicate the U.S. missile defense system would not cause any negative impact on the local environment.

Seoul's defense ministry has said the radiation from the powerful THAAD radar was well below the regulatory protection standard.
