Chelsea Manning in Swimsuit for Vogue

Superlative tinfoil hat...erases the previously-not-unseeable AND stops against infiltration of ELF tower waves!*

I dont really care if people want to be themselves, but why does trans stuff have to be promoted? It's like a trick or a conversion tactic.

Yeah, it's my one old man gripe. If you want to wear dresses, change your name, mess with your body surgically, I'll accept it. But you're still a man, baby.

Also, is that a colostomy bag in the front?
Is this a crutch used by someone in transition?

"Until you feel comfortable sitting to pee, please help yourself to a catheter and a bag".

I would use the catheter, but simply have it drain to an evap pad mounted on my back like in bike racing.

I'm not sure where you live, but here in Atlanta the Vogue was covered by a little plastic screen at the checkout so you could only see the name. This is typical for all the sorts of mags in the store.

I specifically had a problem with "shoving down our throats." Pushing an agenda perhaps, but I actually don't give them that much credit. They are trying to sell magazines. They will put whatever sells on the cover. Last week Breitbart lost it's shit because the Vogue cover was a picture of Jennifer Lawrence standing in front of the State of Liberty in a red dress.

I can name many magazines that are pushing actual agendas - The Atlantic, The Nation, Mother Jones, National Review, New Republic, American Spectator etc. that nobody get's upset over.
I agree there's a valid distinction between simply publicizing something and crafting an piece in a way to lead the opinions of the reader/listener.

At the same time I can understand why @TeTe chose the words that were used. Some would argue that any loud voice in any spot on the left/right spectrum publicizing an unusual event having to do with a massive point of disagreement between the right/left ideologies drive a massive wedge between people by presenting a story so popular that no one can escape talking about it, potentially creating a "litmus test" for people to interrogate those close to them, creating strife and mistrust.

The question in my mind is not "what do I think of the gentleman in the bathing suit" or "what do we think of the slant of Vogue's coverage of the gentleman in the bathing suit" or even what might be the underpinning's of Vogue's intentions in featuring the gentleman in the bathing suit", but rather, "does the gentleman in the bathing suit deserve the full force of the loud voice of Vogue, and if so, why, and if not, THEN the question is 'why is Vogue doing this'" ie maybe shoving it down our throats, or maybe simply a popular topic by their capitalist market research.

Lmao at the War Room. People are overly aggressive assholes here over nothing. Maybe more so than the old OT even, or maybe it just seems that way because it's so humorless and these people actually take it so seriously.

@Fawlty
@TeTe
I would point out the omission of another aggressive mod here from your list who comes from the other side of the ideology spectrum and let's stand personal attacks on longtime posters and refuses to acknowledge their requests to remove them, even from the posters' own threads, when no personal attacks were or have ever been levied from the poster to the mod or anyone else on the forum.

I don't really know too much about the operation in here. I just tagged those two because they were in this thread and I know them from my old OT posting days.

Until recently the only other time I read the War Room much was back during the Zimmerman trial debacle.

I'm not sure I understand your point. I don't see how Vogue covering a story it thinks it's readers want learn about "drives a wedge." If someone had litmus test to be friends with me, well fuck them. I don't have time for that.

Honestly, gun control is a big issue but Guns and Ammo and those sorts of magazines don't seem to take heat when they have opinion pieces or articles about the Second Amendment. The reason is that they are writing articles for their audience that are not controversial to their audience. Vogue is a woman-focused magazine that caters to the fashion world that as whole leans left and is very comfortable (far more than most) with LGBT topics.

This feels an awful lot like women who bitch about the "misogynist" SI Swimsuit Issue, the guys who bitch about people pushing the "fat" agenda when SI puts women carrying a few pounds into the Swimsuit Issue or some super liberal hippie crying that the magazine shelf is full of gun and hunting mags.

What can I say, I like to talk shit. I just learned it's not best to do it in here because it's like chasing your tail.. instead of the OT where it's mostly done for lulz. But, I get bored sometimes.

It has always been a little hot in here, but when the Trump campaign started it got worse and never cooled out.
If I told you to "go fuck yourself you socialist scum"

It would take a different meaning than for most around here I'd gather. I'd only say it cause it wouldn't be a reach in the OT. All in good fun.

Poor mentally ill dude, I feel for Bradley.
