If the rules are upheld, Jones is looking at a 4 year suspension. At age 30, that is a career death sentence.
However, Jones would attract alot of eyes to the Japanese market, who would likely let him fight even if he was suspended (i think barnett and diaz did this in the past....i could be wrong).....
IF JONES GETS SUSPENDED FOR 4 YEARS:
What are the chances he is able to secure a release from his UFC contract? Keep in mind the only purpose to the contract with a 4 year suspension would be to prevent him from working as a mixed martial artist. Do you think the contract becomes unenforceable if one of the parties has no intention of actually upholding the contract? (in this instance the UFC could not offer him fights or they would likely lose their promoter license)
How long do you think the UFC can hold Jones to a contract with no intention of letting jones fight?
Would jones be willing to go to Rizin/One and make money from sponsors with low guaranteed pay?
How do you think it would affect his ranking? Also, do you see fighters leaving the UFC to fight him in japan (like fedor)?
I guess this is part about the legal aspect of a contract that is likely for a term half as long as the suspension being indefinitely extended...... and just in general, if you were jones, what options would you be eyeing at this point?
