Whereas he is the "real Indian," being that he was born in India.

Despite Massachusetts being a deep blue state and Indian Americans generally voting Democratic, this is of course a Republican candidate.

The best part is that, while Warren merely listed herself as part-Native in a directory and received no benefit from the claim, he actually is appropriating and exploiting Native American identity and symbolism for tangible gain, as he is spreading campaign signs with Warren wearing a Native ceremonial headdress.

Truthfully, Ayyadurai looks poised to join a very rich history of great Indian Americans in the Republican Party, following in the footsteps of conspiracy theorist, fictional filmmaker, and convicted fraud Dinesh D'Souza, and professional charlatan, economic nincompoop, and the only man in American history who can validly claim to have made Louisiana a worse place, Bobby Jindal.

In Massachusetts, there is an independent candidate named Shiva Ayyadurai hoping to challenge Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren for her seat in the United States Senate. His campaign website calls him the "personification of the American Dream," based on his trajectory from the "untouchables" caste of India in the 1970s, to receiving his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to his political ambitions today. The website also includes a prominent call to action, asking voters to "Defeat #FakeIndian Elizabeth Warren."

And that controversial terminology -- referring to Sen. Elizabeth Warren as a "fake Indian" -- is not limited to Ayyadurai's website.

For over a month, the upstart candidate's campaign bus has sported two identical signs emblazoned with the words, "Only a real Indian can defeat a fake Indian." It's parked in a lot just a mile away from Warren's home. The signs also feature a side-by-side composite photo of Ayyadurai next to an eye-catching Photoshopped rendering of Warren in a Native American headdress.

This, of course, isn't the first time Warren has taken flak from political opponents over her claim of being part Cherokee. In 2012, Warren's Native American heritage was a frequent sparring point of Republican Sen. Scott Brown. And the issue made headlines again in November when President Trump referred to her as "Pocahantas" while hosting an event for Native American "code talkers" at the White House.

In the case of Ayyadurai's campaign sign, however, city officials in Cambridge reportedly took action and served the campaign with a letter from the City of Cambridge's Building Inspector, stating that a fine of $300 per day would be levied against the Shiva 4 Senate campaign if it did not remove the "fake Indian" banner from its campaign bus immediately. The city said the sign violates local zoning code.

Ayyadurai, for his part, feels that the letter represents "an outright attack on the First Amendment and Free Speech," and he's fighting back with a lawsuit.

"We will not allow the racist Warren to unleash her fascists in the City of Cambridge to shutdown our historic slogan, attack the First Amendment, and extort monies from our campaign," Ayyadurai's campaign website now reads in bolded red text. It then goes on to solicit donations from constituents "to support our fight to defend the rights that our American revolutionaries died fighting for" -- all this before gently closing the webpage with the words, "Be the Light, Shiva."

Oh, and he's calling the City of Cambridge "fascists" hired by Warren to attack his First Amendment rights for saying his signs contravene local zoning rules. (FYI, those rules have been held repeatedly to be fully constitutional).

She’s political “tainted meat”.

It’s actually a fairly politically savvy move from the “real Indian”. He’s a nobody, and there’s no better way to gain attention than to take the gloves off and fight dirty.

I wish she could go back in time and not say that Indian shit publicly. Republicans are great at Frank Lunts word games and making candidates with great stances on issues look like total buffoons

Im afraid in the greater scheme of things Republicans have compromised her with all the Pocahontas shit

Your typical voter (myself included) does not understand the finer points of bank regulation and doesnt care to learn but as we have seen and I think will continue to see is that meme politics is extremely effective

Warren claimed Native American status when applying to college. Due to institutionalized racism i.e. "affirmative action" that allows universities to discriminate against people based on their race, religion, or gender, she would have benefited from a remarkable lowering of standards for admission based on the standards universities have employed aggressively for the past 40 years in order to become more "diverse".

Trump destroyed this woman's credibility because he isn't ashamed to be an idiot. He's disgraced himself by demonstrating his gullibility to believe in the Obama birther myth, but it turns out, if you fling enough darts at the board, sooner or later one lands stuck squarely on the forehead of a pigfaced liar.

One of those darts found Warren. I used to like this woman. Her indignant reaction in the face of all evidence that she's been telling fairy tales destroyed her credibility with me. I cannot respect her any more than I can respect Trump.

My GF is Native American... The Cherokee Nation paid for her Masters Degree at SU. :-/

Would be nice to see almost anyone unseat Warren honestly

So apparently this guy is pretty D'Souza-esque crazy himself. Just read about him, and:

(1) Claims to have invented email in a high school paper. This claim has been universally rejected, which he says is because he of a conspiracy between the Military Industrial Complex and the mainstream media. Also says it's because he is Indian, and that if he were white he would be "on every stamp."

(2) Held a "Boston Tea Party" rally that included white supremacist speakers; but when counter-protesters showed up, he said they were sent by the "establishment" to start a "Race War to divide us."

(3) Has called himself a patriot that supports free speech (something the establishment/left does not value), yet has repeatedly filed civil actions claiming speech-related torts against the likes of Gawker, Peter Thiel, Techdirt, and the Diaspora Foundation.

(4) Technology critic has claimed Ayyadurai was tried to use lies and the legal system to profit off of misleading claims

(5) Claimed GMO soy beans were unsafe, but his conclusions were rejected by regulatory agencies. In response, he offered Monsanto $10 million to prove they were safe and offered Hillary Clinton $10 million if she could disprove his research.

(6) Dated Fran fucking Drescher.

I love this guy

Surprised he and Warren don't get along. They're two peas in a pod.

Aside from Pocahontas's cultural appropriation, there's another reason Dems should ditch her: she's just too easy to make fun of. Like, she is living proof that bullies are necessary. She is just so goofy! Imagine the memes, with her goofy little glasses falling off when she gets mad... LOL!

Friendly advice: Consider Kamala Harris instead. Republicans will hate her, and she will not be a perpetual meme cow like Elizabeth Warren.

Yeah, hard-working and supremely qualified former Harvard Law professors who fight for the legitimate interests of their constituents and against the influences of the ultra-rich, banks, and corporations.....they really suck.

We need people who are more like us: unqualified and willing to take bribes to tell us we understand all it takes to run a country.

Warren claimed Native American status when applying to college.

Can you support this claim? I've never even heard it alleged before. I had heard that she used it when applying to teach, but that was debunked. Wasn't mentioned at all at her first post, and she was recruited by Harvard, and the people involved in that process say that they had no awareness of any Native American connection.

Yeah, adults don't pick leaders based on whether immature dorks will try to make fun of them. They also don't pick leaders based on how much it will totes trigger said immature dorks.

She's far, far more qualified and would be a better president than Kamala Harris.

Yeah, I'm going to need some evidence as well.

And, even if that were 100% true, if you still can't differentiate between how much respect you should afford to Warren and Trump respectively.....well, I don't know what to tell you, other than "please don't vote."

Warren is a champion for consumer rights.

For the idiots here who don't understand she wants to protect the venerable from being taken advantage of by financial institutions.

How anyone could think that is a bad stance for Warren is amazing.

Our politics are so disgusting right now. Maybe they always have been, but I can't remember a time when I was more consistently disgusted by the lack of maturity and dignity shown by these people.
