They track a little more naturally than bands. Also, bands will lose elasticity over time and will need to be replaced which can be expensive. A set of chains will last forever.
Chains only pull at the speed of gravity. Elastic will pull noticeably faster than that. The eccentric forces on a banded lift can fuck you up, especially if you have long limbs.
Counterpoint- the greater eccentric forces can be a stimulus for hypertrophy and might help with engaging your stretch reflex because of the overspeed eccentric.
