Chael Was Out-Striking Rampage

I have been boxing for well over ten years, don't lecture me with your cum belt account. Boxers don't take PEDS to improve technique, your statement is idiotic at best.
I've boxed off and on for 28 years so stfu. PEDS help your cardio which improves your technique as the fight goes on. GTFO!

Before the Rampage fight I was sure that Mir would beat Chael easily, and I thought Fedor vs Chael was 50/50. However, after the fight last night, I think Chael has a decent chance against both Mir and Fedor.

I think the Fedor matchup would be similar to the Rampage one, and after seeing the fight last night, I think that Chael could beat Mir by using his speed advantage and outboxing him.

As far as Matt goes, I've no confidence that Chael could beat him in any way.

Yeah. Meathead will unfortunately squash Chael if they ever faced off.

But i'll enjoy watching the American Gangster do his thing until that happens.

He just recently signed a new contract to do commentary(announcer/analyst etc.) for Bellator so I'm thinking this is his last hurrah in the Octagon since it's his last shot at getting gold.

I was a bit surprised by Sonnen's striking too. He normally throws a one two and then shoots for the takedown. Basically the bare minimum to set up his shot. However against Rampage he threw some nice kicks and actually landed some hard overhands. He was quick and kept his defense tight. Chin down, hands up. Then there's the headkick attempt and flying knee, which I didn't see coming. Considering he did all this against a heavy hitter like Rampage was even more impressive.

On the flip side though, I've noticed since coming to Bellator that his ground and pound seems lacking. He used to be so intense and relentless with his ground and pound. See the Silva fights and the Marquardt fight. He kept really busy on top. But in his last few fights he has mainly just held position and work for a sub here and there. I'd like to see him turn up the heat from top position a bit more.

Hampage at 253 pounds is one dimensional and on a swivel throwing hooks. Chael outworked him on the feet knowing he could mix in takedowns if he started getting clipped.

Sonnen better hope Mir loses though, Mir will want to be on the ground with him and Chael's submission defense will probably be less than stellar against a submission specialist 2 weight classes up.

God you know, the more I think about it, Chael might have a shot at beating Mir. He would be significantly faster, like he was against Rampage. I could see him actually opting to keep it standing and beating Mir at striking, winning a decision. If he can avoid taking damage from Rampage and win the striking battle, I have to think k he could do the same against Mir. And Frank isn't exactly a takedown artist...

If that was the case 10 years ago, I would have been stunned.

Nowadays, who cares.
