Why is Chael saying this now when countless other basketball players also called themselves world champions?

Have you ever asked him before? I'm sure he's held that belief for a long time. He looked eager to get it off his chest. I don't think he was trying to specifically bully Lebron.

That could have ended really badly if it were any other Raven. Brenden is very classy.
 
Lebron isn't going to give two shits about what chael has to say. Lebron is the best basketball player in the world and a future hall of famer. He could play any sport in the world and be top 1%. Chael is a forgettable B level mma fighter. They shouldn't even be mentioned together in the same breath.
 
Chael is taller than Lebron and has played for more professional teams than Lebron. Chael invented basketball. Chael invented fire and the wheel. Chael once scored 11,382 points in a game he wasn't in. Chael rules basketball. Chael can drink more than Hunter S. Thompson and still beat Lebron in a one on one game. Chuck Norris asks Chael permission before he breaks wind.

2x National Wrestling champion, 240 pound best defensive player of all time who trains MMA as a hobby.

He might be able to beat Ray in the Octagon, but all bets are off in a street fight when you're dealing with someone with those credentials.

Just a logistical point here but ray isn't a running back. He's a fucking linebacker, ie he hits people for a living. Toss in ray's freak athleticism, work ethic, mma training and the fact that he isn't scared to murder someone and you got a fight.
 
Smacking Ray Lewis?? Ray Lewis would of probably been a UFC HW champion had it paid as much as football.. Gotta love Chael though:)

Lebron James: Competes against 100% legit world class athletes. Talented enough to be the best and win a championship title in a major mainstream sport. Earns his title shots. Makes big bucks on a bad day. Friends with sports superstars, A list celebrities, captains of industry, powerful politicians. Gets calls from the president of the USA. Famous. Will be remembered for decades after he retires.

Cheal Sonnen: Competes against truck drivers, part time CPA's, construction workers, over the hill refugees from other sports. Isn't talented enough to the best and win a championship title in a niche sport. Talks his way into title shots. Makes chump change on a good day. Not friends with sports superstars, A list celebrities, captains of industry, powerful politicians. Gets calls from a bald egomaniac ex boxercise instructor. Nobody gives a damn outside of a small niche of a niche sport. Will be forgotten 5 minutes after he retires.

Now you're insulting the brilliant man in your AV.

Chael is a professional fighter, he could take on both Lebron AND Ray at the same time and the outcome would still be exactly the same. They would both get handled badly.

I don't think Chael could challenge Lebron in basketball or Ray in football either, both claims would be absolutely insane.

Chael is as big as Ray, but instead of training MMA as a hobby, he has fought against the two best fighters of all time and seriously challenged one of them.

Completely different beasts. If Chael shoots hoops on his driveway I don't think he'd beat Lebron in a 1 on 1.
 
The NBA teams only compete in North America but the talent pool brings all of the best players around the world to compete in the NBA, so based on that you could declare it a world championship. If you're a basketball player and you're not playing in the NBA you have no claim on being considered the best player or part of the best team in the world.

that may be true, but seeing how this theory is not proved by some sort of "Champions League" that makes them just NBA champs, NOT world champs.

Same shit for Baseball/Hockey/NFL and all the other sports you guys claim as being World Champs.

America is the current World Champs at Basketball, not the Miami Heat.
