If he wins tonight. Chael will have put away Shogun. Page. Wandy. Fedor.

I sure hope Fedor smashes him.

Rooting for Chael myself. Love Fedor but it would be more awesome if Chael takes this.

Chael is annoying, I am pulling for Ivan Draco..

Huh?

Fedor is WAAAAAY beyond his glory days.

You muust think that since Bisping beat Hendo at 45, then Bisping absorbs all of Hendo’s wars.

Sorry Bro but, NO!

in hindsight threads like these reek of desperation and try to force a dead narrative that has been dead on this forum for awhile. I think it's been more than established a long time ago that pride>ufc and it's fighters did better against their counterparts than vice versa.

Fedor's victory over chael on Saturday doesn't change that fact, it just adds to it.

Let's put it to rest now. The war is over and we know who won.

Chael is a bad example since he's 3-1 over Pride legends and more proof of UFC > Pride. Mir was the same. Defeating the Crocop's and Noguerias.

If Fedor is showing anything with these wins it's Fedor > Whoever.

Pride’s top talent consistently failed after the merger. The only way you dolts account for it is inserting “prime” excuses wherever a humiliating loss doesn’t fit your narrative - which is everywhere. Mind blowing how so many athletes can simultaneously fall out their primes...

What is this garbage? This misinformed post has pulled me in from months of not posting on Sherdog.

Pride has been gone almost 12 years (an eternity in MMA)

Most fighters have a short shelf life (injuries and chin deterioration)

Pride fighters did not simultaneously fall out their primes. Most actually started with good success compared to their UFC counterparts at the time

UFC champs at the time

HW Tim and Couture
LHW Chuck
MW Rich Franklin
WW Matt Serra / GSP
LW Sean Sherk (Penn won the belt in 2008)

Only one of these UFC champs (GSP) had much success after the Pride guys came over. Did they all simultaneously fall out of their prime?

Rampage came over - beat Chuck Liddell for the 2nd time) won the belt (Started out 5-1 with his loss being a close decision loss - I had him winning 3 rounds to 2)

Wanderlei already went downhill before coming over. Was 4-4 in his last 8 Pride fights and got KOed viciously 2 times in a row before joining the UFC. Stayed as a .500 fighter

Overeem has a slightly sub .500 record in Pride - came over and earned a title shot in the UFC. Still has the same problem that he always had - glass cannon

Werdum - came over and eventually won a belt.

Nog - was clearly not the same fighter he used to be before coming over. Look at his 2004 fight against Sergei and how fast he moved. He was even doing jumping knees. By the time he got to the UFC he fought like his feet were glued to the floor and he was wading through a swap (back, hip, and knee surgeries will do that to you) Sherdog even had an article about his failing health, being partially blind in one eye and worried he wouldn't even be cleared to fight. Still won an interim belt and beat guys like Tim and Couture (Started 3-1 in the UFC) Before losing to Cain in 2010

Hunt - Had a career resurgence in the UFC. He admitted that he barely trained and started training hard again. Started 4-1 in the UFC and had a pretty great run until he turned 43 and started losing consistently despite still putting up competitive fights. Beat guys like The Black Beast, Mir, Rothwell, Bigfoot, Struve, Kongo during his run. Lost in his title shot to fellow former Pride fighter – Werdum

Cro Cop - Was one of the only guys that was performing at a top level that fell on his face fast. Won first UFC fight then Gonzaga took his head off. Was gun shy after this and was never the same. Did not have a good UFC run.

Dan Henderson - Started out well in the UFC. Had 2 title shots against former Pride fighters but lost them both. Went in the UFC before turning and losing. Should have got decision in the 2nd Bisping fight for the belt at age 47 (dropped him in 2 different rounds and clearly did the most damage) Was 6-2 in the UFC before turning 41 and started to lose more consistently (started having back problems and pulled out of a fight for the first time)

Shogun – Ended up winning the belt despite losing his first fight in the UFC. Needed knee surgery. Couldn’t train cardio. Got married and went to Honeymoon during training camp. Looked bad in his win against Coleman,. Beat Liddell. Beat Machida (outstruck him 2 to 1) but got robbed. Should have had the belt. Beat Machida again to win the belt. Had his 3rd major knee surgery and newcomer Jon Jones beat took his belt. He is a shot fighter with bad knees now but is dangerous.

Barnett - Didn't come to the UFC until years after Pride was gone but still did decent. Beat Mir, Nelson, and Arlovski. Is 40 years old now and probably done.

Cro Cop was really the only guy that was at the top that came over and failed. Starting to lose fights frequently 4 to 7 years after being a top fighter is the norm in MMA.

You dont even know what the word 'prime' means...

The war ended the day pride died.

UFC is alive and kicking and has world champs.

Pride has nothing.

We have Rizin now which could become the next PRIDE. It actually has better rules as elbows are allowed in many fights.
