"Canelo leaves (boxing) the money leaves with him just like Mayweather " -Jeff Mayweather

in mexico, that is considered very fluent english. she can watch television, understand lyrics and probably teach a class as well.

This guy speaks good Spanish

Until the next boxer and the next and the next and the....

Isn't this a story as old as the sport. You'd think these guys would know their craft a little better.

Jeff Mayweather's statement does not even make sense.

Obviously the money did not leave with Floyd if Canelo now has it. When Canelo leaves, someone else will have it.

The statement Jeff Mayweather made contradicts itself.

Canelo doesnt have Floyd money.

His statement is 100% true in that when Floyd left and Pac is idling around, all the revenue has left boxing in America.

Almost all US based promoters lost money. PBC/TopRank/Haymon/HBO, etc.

We are already in that phase now, until someone can come out and make them Floyd bucks.

Maybe Canelo on the rise, and possibly Deontay Wilder though it doesnt seem too likely for Wilder

Joshua will make some good money (with the proviso that he gets past Klitschko), but it'll be from that fan base in England. Like many English fighters, he won't get as much respect in North America.

So unless some boxer becomes the highest paid athlete of all time, that means Floyd took all the money out of the sport when he left?

You must be interpreting Jeff Mayweather's statement differently than I am.

No but it was a point that the money that was coming into boxing left when Floyd left.

Boxing is not a company. Fighters generate money for themselves and their business associates based on how popular they are and how popular the specific match up they are in is. These people lose money when the star goes away. THAT'S ALL. Boxing is neither enriched when a big star is at his peak nor does it lose money when he goes away.

No, the money did not leave. Some money left with Floyd, as always happens when a huge star leaves a sport. There is a huge difference there.

Money is still in boxing, tons of it. Ask Canelo, Wlad, and Joshua this year how sad they are that Floyd left.

Saying the money left is no different, and no less absurd, than saying the fans left. Some Floyd fans left with Floyd, but here we all are still enjoying the sport.
