Banging your campaign manager's wife is a pretty shitty thing to do. I mean, how much lower can you go? Banging your buddy's wife?

This certainly isn't the worst thing a politician could do(he could be a pedo like that Alabama guy) but if we're going to be consistent with #metoo, fucking your subordinate is a bad look whether she enjoyed it(clearly she did) or not. He should be hearing calls by Dem leadership to drop out. Anything short of that is hypocrisy by the Democratic party.

However, this would also be a good time to start calling a spade a spade by acknowledging that the woman enjoyed herself so the transgression really isn't that bad and shouldn't be a big deal. The worst part is Newsom showing his lack of character by having no respect for a man he knows very well. Aside from his stance on guns this is enough for me to not support him- he's a sleazy sack of shit.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's re-election campaign manager resigned Wednesday after confronting the mayor about an affair Newsom had with his wife while she worked in the mayor's office, City Hall sources said.

Alex Tourk, 39, who served as Newsom's deputy chief of staff before becoming his campaign manager in September, confronted the mayor after his wife, Ruby Rippey-Tourk, told him of the affair as part of a rehabilitation program she had been undergoing for substance abuse, said the sources, who had direct knowledge of Wednesday's meeting.

Rippey-Tourk, 34, was the mayor's appointments secretary from the start of his administration in 2004 until last spring. She told her husband that the affair with Newsom was short-lived and happened about a year and a half ago, while the mayor was undergoing a divorce from his then-wife, Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, said the sources, who spoke on condition they not be identified.

Alex Tourk "confronted the mayor on the issue this afternoon, expressed his feeling about the situation in an honest and pointed way, and resigned," said one source close to Tourk and his wife.

Tourk's resignation was announced in a statement that Newsom's campaign released Wednesday. The statement quoted Tourk as saying only that he was resigning for personal reasons.

The statement quoted Newsom, 39, as saying he had accepted the resignation with great sadness.

Asked at City Hall Wednesday evening about Tourk's resignation and the affair, Newsom said, "I'm not making any public comment. I'm just not."

Tourk and Newsom have been friends for years and frequently socialized outside work. Tourk did not return phone calls Wednesday seeking comment. Rippey-Tourk, who now hosts a weekly radio show for Benefit Magazine in San Francisco, also did not return calls. A family friend who asked not to be identified said she would have no comment.

The controversy involving Tourk left Newsom's inner circle reeling. "I feel really bad for Alex," one adviser said. "He is blameless in this."

Yikes the double-whammy. Yeah a guy like that is no friend. If you can't trust a 38 year old man around his buddy's 33 year old wife, how the fuck do you trust him to run a state with a $2.5T GDP? Why couldn't he just fuck 20 year old escorts like every other rich dude?

Although to be fair, he is looking to replace Jerry Brown.

California Governor Candidate Calls On Newsom To Step Down Over Sex Scandal

Amanda Renteria, whose sudden entrance into California's governor's race last month surprised political observers, went on the attack Thursday against gubernatorial front-runner Gavin Newsom, calling on him to step down as lieutenant governor because of a decade-old sex scandal.

Newsom, who easily won statewide office twice after the scandal, admitted in 2007 to an affair with his appointments secretary, who also was married to his campaign manager. At the time, Newsom was separated from his first wife, Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is now a Fox News host. He later briefly dated a 19-year-old woman.

Renteria, a former Hillary Clinton aide and failed congressional candidate, cited both affairs in her calls for Newsom to step down, and in a series of tweets sought to tie Newsom's exploits to the sexual harassment and assault allegations that have forced several members of the state legislature to resign in recent months.

Nathan Click, a spokesman for the Newsom campaign, dismissed Renteria's attack.

"This kind of brazen and self-serving political stunt doesn't even deserve a response," he said in a written statement.

Renteria, who stepped down as chief of operations for the California attorney general, pushed back on Twitter when some people suggested she was conflating consensual sex with harassment.

"Workplace impacts of this type of behavior has real implications on the lives of everyone in the office. The more power you have, the more responsibility you have to ensure a positive culture where everyone is empowered," she wrote.

Newsom isn't the only gubernatorial candidate who has been plagued with questions about his past.

Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa had an affair with a television reporter who covered his administration while he held the post. Villaraigosa was married at the time.
