Cali to home owners, let's put the homeless in your backyard...

You sound like you are all of about 12 years old.

Some of those homeless people fought for this country, and are worse off for it.

All you morons in this thread are so American.

I know homeless vets , they dont want any help. Have the option to sleep in home with family members, but prefer that lifestyle

It's a lifestyle choice for a lot of them
True story, I know family members that beg their homeless relative to sleep in their home. Especially during winter.
This guy just chooses to live that lifestyle

Yea from what I've seen people outside of HOA communities are much more likely to give 0 fucks about what the people around them think. Which is most likely the reason they live outside one to be given that sort of freedom.

I'm not into doing anything to my house that isn't standard for most houses so I always choose HOA communities. Most things HOA wont let me do that I'd like to mean very little to me and is not worth living next to the guy who wants to park 3 dead vehicles on his lawn because the driveway is full.

Yeah, that's why I used 'drastic' there. I get that people who live outside of HOA communities sometimes don't give a shit -but there's a difference between thumbing your nose at a nieghbor by parking beaters in your lawn and inviting the homeless community to set up shop in your back yard. One thing is a stationary eye sore that really only effects the individuals property -the other is a potential hazard that can travel all over the community and potentially cause issues.

Sorry your plan to increase profit margins by trading labor for a blanket in the corner of your tool shed didn't pan out for you. But it's good to see the entrepreneurial spirit is still alive in America.
Its funny how you go straight to making it something bad. The deal is they maintain the property in exchange for a room and are able to persue whatever else they want to do. Its like 4 hours a week worth of work.

So what is stopping you?

I bet you could go out for a drive and come home with a few homeless people within 45 min if you dont live in a town of 2k people...

Put your money where your mouth is since "you don't know what your problem is". The people who support this shit are always cool with "others" doing it.

Post pics in this thread with your new homeless pet. Tonight.
LOTS of homeless people in Toronto. He won't need to drive for 45 min at all, 5min tops.

Well, I live in San Diego, which has a very large homeless population due to our temperate climate, and no, the majority aren't "aggressive and violent".

You should try talking to a homeless guy once in a while, you might find out that they are in fact human. Stop being so scared of everything, snowflake.

I took my daughter to a playground a few days ago. 8 homeless were drinking and smoking something out of a glass pipe. It was white. They were shouting and getting wild. They had a loose pit mix dog. We had to leave because of the dirty and aggressive looks they were giving us.

All the playgrounds have been taken over. All the parks a taken over, and the bums aggressively defend areas we used to hike and picnik at. It's fucked.

Where do you live? I’ll take that deal and I own my own house. Would do it just to have a quiet place to hangout, maybe the occasional escort, but I’ll keep it relatively quiet

The homeless problem in california is pretty mind blowing. I take it for granted since I’ve lived here my whole life and worked downtown for 3 years, but I can only imagine what people think when they travel here. I wish there was an obvious solution but there really isn’t.

I grew up splitting time between a trailer park and an Indian reservation - both were destitute and full of riff raff. Somehow this doesn't color my judgement of all people I meet.

As to the parks you go to - it sounds like a bad area of town, maybe you should try another, and while I won't deny there is a certain percentage of any population, homeless or otherwise, that are malcontents, I'm not buying your statement that all, or even most, of the homeless population are aggressive and violent individuals.

To be honest, while I don't doubt that you may have seen some homeless drug addicts, it seems weird to me that they were mad dogging you, and that all the playgrounds have been taken over by this violent hoard of homeless people. Sounds a little melodramatic to me.

I was just making a joke. Besides, we all know your little story was just bullshit to begin with.

Sounds like an interesting idea with no real losers. For the homeowners they get a little money as well as the satisfaction of helping someone get back on their feet.

More importantly, those homeless who want an opportunity get one from a society that has failed them. Of course it is not for everyone, but it great for many. They het looked at negatively but the vast majority of the homeless want to be productive people and they just cant get a proper start.

Perhaps the best thing to come out of it will be the homeless becoming involved with the community again, living with neighbors in a proper environment in which snooty people with money will no longer look down on the less fortunate

Hey, I'm all for it. California wants this shit. You guys invited vagrants and deviants to your state.

lol, I'm sure you'd be OK with setting up a homeless camp in your backyard.

Nobody is setting up "camps". And I don't need to house a homeless person to at least treat them with a little dignity.

A good Christian or Muslim would open their home to the homeless.

huh? thats what the story in the OP says. Little homes is your backyards for the homeless. You signing up for your homeless?

Treating them with dignity is fine. Being asked to care for and support them is another.
