Hailee Steinfeld to Star in Transformers Spinoff Movie BUMBLEBEE

qbCx93I.jpg

Hailee Steinfeld is in negotiations to star in Paramount's Transformers spinoff Bumblebee. Travis Knight, who directed the stop-motion movie Kubo and the Two Strings, is helming the project.

Bumblebee is the yellow and black striped Autobot that appears as one of the main characters in the Transformers film series.

Plot details are being kept on the dark side of the moon but it is known that Steinfeld will play a tomboy who also holds a job as a mechanic after school. Christina Hodson (Shut In) wrote the script.

The movie project is the first spinoff in what the studio hopes will be a Transformers Cinematic Universe that will include prequels and offshoots from a line of movies that have generated over $3.7 billion worldwide with the latest one, Transformers: The Last Knight, set to hit theaters June 23.

It is slated for a June 8, 2018 release.

Steinfeld made her feature debut with Ethan and Joel Coen’s 2010 remake of True Grit, netting her a nomination for best actress in a supporting role. More recently the actress, who is also enjoying a thriving singing career, appeared in Pitch Perfect 2 and has Pitch Perfect 3 wrapped, and last year gained strong notices for her performance in teen drama Edge of Seventeen.

I'm really curious to see what a Transformers movie ends up being like when not directed by Michael Bay.

And Hailee Steinfeld is very nice to look at, so why not?

Michael Bay Creeping on another girl half his age eh.

Pass. Super pass.

Transformers movies saving grace is bad ass graphics. I'm assuming they have to back that down a bit for a series.... so they're really gonna have to rock up the story linez to make this work.... & a great cast as well.

Why are there so many German sounding surnames in the business eventhough they look completely different from what I'd imagine after reading the name.

No más bad Transformers, por favor.

Next will be a gi joe spinoff based on one of those generic action figures that always came with the vehicles.

BUMBLEBEE Spinoff Movie is a Prequel Set in the 1980s

pnXxJm8.jpg

New details have been revealed about the next Transformers film in the series which will focus on the fan-favorite character known as Bumblebee.

Empire Magazine reports that the new film will be set in the 1980s, making it a prequel to the current series of films. It also states that the new film will focus on a different demographic, aligning it with the same target audience as those who buy the action figures.

The Bumblebee spinoff “will feature considerably fewer Transformers, concentrating on the big, yellow star (who in the movies so far can only talk via snippets of radio broadcasts) and likely pitching a little younger, tonally.”

It makes sense that the movie, written by Christina Hodson, will be directed by LAIKA president and animator Travis Knight, who has experience helming films for younger audiences.

An animated prequel is in the works. The story takes place in Cybertron regarding the origin myth of the Transformers millions of years ago. Ant-Man writers are working on the project. A new
Transformers movie set is ancient Rome is also in the works.

At first i wasn't interested, but then i heard they cast jorge lendeborg jr and i was all like, "Still not interested"

If it's for kids why set it in the 80s? They'll have no idea about the setting. Kids only understand the know. Recently was watching Annie at work (aftercare) and the kids could not understand why the movie they went to was in black and white. "It's set before colour films, back in the 1930s" "what, movies didn't used to have colours"? "Yes" "but why is it black and white"? "Sigh.."
