EBI 6 UPDATE (Abraham Marte out!)

Is it exclusively to fight pass, though?

I've been holding out I might just bite the bullet and get it.

Honestly, I highly recommend getting it. At first, I had heard that the interface was clunky and all that, but I went ahead and did my free month trial and instantly loved it. It's up there with Netflix as far as how much I watch it. If you were on the fence about it, the inclusion of Glory, K1 and EBI should seal the deal.

Nothing better than being able to binge on fights when everyone's boring you to tears watching YouTube vids and shit. I can't stand chronic YT'ers. "Have you seen the new (insert uninteresting clip) yet?!? DUDE you gotta see this right quick"

Set forApril 2016, the 6th edition of the Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI 6) is finally complete, with it’s last contestant being Lucas Rocha of Gracie Barra. This will be the first time the famous event, created by 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu founder Eddie Bravo, will be promoting an open weight division.

Known in the grappling circuit as one of the top “submission only” style events in the world, EBI has recently gathered the curiosity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) executives, who purchased the rights to broadcast the event through the organization’s digital subscription service: “UFC FIGHT PASS”. A gigantic step for EBI and jiu jitsu as a sport, since it opens the doors of 1000’s of mixed martial arts (MMA) enthisiasts to high level grappling.

In preparation for the UFC FIGHT PASS debut, EBI has gone above and beyond it’s previous showings by providing a possible US$50,000 cash prize, having also summoned some of the biggest names in jiu jitsu today. EBI 6 is providing a very interesting mix of gi + no-gi specialists as well as points and submission only athletes, which should have advocates of both factions of grappling on the edge of their seats.

With the date set for Sunday April 24 from The Orpheum in downtown LA, EBI 6 has now confirmed their card. Although previously scheduled to be a 16 men tournament, the organization has only revealed 15, stating the card is full. It goes as follows:

Damn, it looks like they aren't offering free trials right now. I was hoping I could just run a free trial to catch this EBI. Still tempting, this lineup is amazing and the amount of time I could spend binging on the fight library would be well worth the money...

SOB this is the most stacked card in a long ass time...

WAR EBI!

PS: im just seeing 15 dudes, whos the 16th?

They keep saying complete card but there are only 15 people listed, and Cyborg already dropped out ( :( ) so they need 2 more.

Cyborg had to pull out, there will be replacement soon.

They should try to bring Roger Gracie for this!

Man this is gonna be nuts! Still picking Galvao.

"Guys, I took my name out of EBI about one month ago. But somehow my name is still there. I'll be fighting Abu Dhabi Pro mid April. I decided to dedicate this first semester for Gi competition only! Aiming to a good year" - Posted by Roberto Cyborg Abreu on Tuesday, 23 February 2016

The line-up for the event so far contains 14 names, with the list of entrants below (click for bios and videos of matches)

Fucking Galvao is out.

via - FloGrappling

Andre Galvao has informed FloGrappling that he will not compete in the upcoming EBI 6 openweight tournament in April.

The Atos co-founder, who is an IBJJF world champion and a four-time ADCC champion, was one of the biggest names to compete in the 16-man submission-only tournament.

Galvao cites a lack of training partners in the run-up to the tournament, which will leave him unprepared for the no-gi competition.

The black belt, who is the head coach at Atos in San Diego, has committed to helping his team with their preparations for major tournaments such as the 2016 IBJJF Pans and Abu Dhabi World Pro.

It is gi season, and I really want to focus on my students and my team – Andre Galvao

This has to pave the way for Keenan to enter

Tonon is pretty experienced in absolute divisions. I think he recently took bronze at worlds...? I don't remember and don't feel like googling. LOL.

Hit him up man. Eddie isn't hard to reach. You might land yourself a contract (if you're a freelancer).

Yeah man! Give it a shot! You're guaranteed to miss if you don't try! Go for it! 100% serious.
