brabo vs darce

youtube em. I love the brabo choke but rarely mess with darce chokes

This thread has been done and done and done again.

I'll break it down. After this, there's no more needed.

The Brabo originally was a Gi choke.

Then Vitor Shaolin Ribeiro began using the move a lot as you see it in it's current form. (AKA reverse head-and-arm choke.) Kid Peligro named the move Brabo, saying that is brazilian that means "aggresive" or something.

Meanwhile, one of Renzo Gracies students Joe D'Arce became famous for the same choke. Although in his version, he used a gable grip around the head from sprawl control to get the opponent on their side for the choke. This became known as the Darce choke.

Soooo, technically the Darce has a gable grip involved. Although 99% of the grappling community doesn't recognize that difference and it's easier to just call the choke either the Darce or the Brabo.

In short, whichever one you call it, it's the same choke. Different gyms call it the Darce, others the Brabo. All depends on where you are. But in my opinion (and most peoples opinions) it's the same choke.

It's my favorite move and I've done tons of research on it.
