Boxing site calls for Brendan Schaub to be fired

Why the fuck did Showtime hire him in the first place?

schaub was shit at mma so he damn sure doesn't know shit about boxing.

"Racially charged" , not even racism. This has become the new McChartyism

They're refering to his comments about Edwards, Tyron and Karyn only being there because they are black?

That's criticism towards FOX if anything, wouldn't call it "racist" at all. Idiotic if anything. Also the new trend that everyone who says anything that is even slightly controversial should be fired from their jobs is ridiculous.

They're absolutely "racist" because he based his entire point on race. Had he not injected race into the conversation, because he didn't have to, and just stuck to criticising their capabilities there would be no issue.

And fuck this whole "outrage at the outrage" stance.

Might be "racist" technically, but Shaub didn't say anything negative about the analysts. All he said was that he thinks that FOX hired certain analysts to improve their own public image. That does happen a lot nowadays so I don't see the big deal, he is entitled to his opinion.

So we fire people for telling the truth now.

So, here's where some people seem to be confused.

What WOULD be okay for Schaub to say: "I don't think this crew of analysts is the best it could be"

What ISN'T okay for Schaub to say: "I don't think this crew of analysts is the best it could be and they're only there because they're black"

especially considering the reason there hasn't been as much color on TV (and the reason why people are noticing it now, especially in places like the academy awards and what not) is because the status quo for decades was that prime television was mostly reserved for white people. so it's a little ironic when people say "well they're only there because they're black" because that's dismissing the history of television and why white people on television had their jobs secured.

Being entitled to an opinion doesn't mean that opinion has to be accepted. If something is technically racist, as you admit, it shouldn't be said from a representative of a company or spokesperson on television because racism shouldn't be normalized. It's pretty simple. That doesn't mean people think Schaub is a member of the KKK - he's probably a good guy. But if he's in a position to influence people, he can't be injecting racism into conversations. He shouldn't of mentioned race. He didn't need to.

What if it's true that FOX hires more black people to improve their public image? Those are things that you need to be able to discuss just like everything else in society.

Are you willing to discuss that white people on TV have had their jobs secured because of a racist history? To put it into your words, historically FOX hired more white people because it was better for their public image because white America didn't want to see as many black people on T.V. Now that that's changing, you have a problem?

If you believe that all the white people on TV earned their jobs while all the black ones are only their for public image you're ignoring the hiring of all white people in the first place being for public image and you're ignoring the disadvantage people of color have had breaking into the market because of the racist roots of the country.

Plus, television is a ratings business. Everything is done for public image. Why is that only a problem when it has to do with people of color getting more air time?

LOL people who already signed it are taking the piss out of the petition.

Schaub is about as much SJW as you can get. The guy says dumb shit but this is just ridiculous. People will just keep trying to push that line, it's depressing.
You can't speak negatively about black people, women, Jews, trans, gays, liberals or muslims regardless of the reason and especially if it's true. If you live by these rules, you should be just fine. Everyone else is fair game.

Shaub says a lot of dumb things, but come on. Really. I think it looks worse on the people who are crying for someone to get fired.

So we fire people for telling the truth now.
You're damn right we do!

Saying : "The emperor has no clothes! You are all hypocrites!"

Goes over about as well as a lead balloon.

He should be fired but not because of what he said

He should be fired because he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about like 95% of the time

so you create a thread about a tweet with only a single like?

Don't see it happening... But give it time. The guy is bound to piss off the wrong guy and get canned...

In an open society you should be able to discuss anything, so yes.

Television is a ratings business and no, it's not only a problem when it has to do with people of color getting more air time. The TV-industry gets called out for weird marketing strategies all the time.

You're right. I think it is ridiculous to think that a racist comment. It's true that Yves, Karyn and Tyron as a team do not exactly stand out for excellence. Karyn is a consolidated reporter, but Tyron and Yves are, well, not great. It makes one wonder about why setting that panel up.

I can understand they would be offended, since he basically implied they were only selected for ethnic marketing purposes. But that's if anything about how little he thinks of the quality of the team itself.

i can vouch for schaub. he was crowing on for months about campari soda being amazing. and it is. its fucking wonderful.
