Boxing Is Not Easier Than MMA (Luke Thomas point)

luke thomas doesnt know what the hell hes talking about and neither does anyone that listens to his dumb ass

MMA is closer to "real" combat than boxing (obviously), but it's often harder to succeed in an extremely deep and narrow field than a field that is broader but less deep.

For example, it's harder to get a PhD in computer science than a good, solid education in the traditional liberal arts, because the narrowness of the former is overcome by the extreme depth. However, many people would consider the liberal arts person to be closer to what it means to be truly educated.

I would consider MMA vs. Pure Boxing/Pure Wrestling to be approximately the same idea.

That’s cool and all, but even if it’s true MMA is more exciting and they would destroy most boxers in a real fight.

Why do people on Sherdog seem to hate on MMA so much? I blame the new boxing fad that Conor brought upon us. Now everyone is an expert on fisticuffs here lol.

Yeah their different sport altogether they just in the same category as combat sport.

But for real MMA fighters are stepping into boxing not because they think boxing is easy is more they think they can get more money. If stipe boxed Joshua he'll maybe make around 5 mil I bet that's hell of a lot more then what he is getting paid as UFC champ. Not too many fighters even in boxing can make 100 mil a fight other then Floyd and he aint coming back anytime soon, maybe when he gets into tax trouble again.

5 different weight class boxing champion Amanda Serrano says MMA is way harder than boxing but Luke Thomas knows better because he is a writer. She is currently making the transition to MMA.

Holly showed a boxer can come over and ko their biggest star.

Conor proved a mma fighter has to be carried and still gets finished by a 40 year old man who weighed 149 pounds and was 2 years into retirement.
if holly is a boxer, then why is ronda a mma fighter and not a judo specialist

and do that meant hat muai thai is better than boxing since valentina owned holly

and when boxer go to mma from boxing , they are allowed to use 100% of their skills
mma fighter are forbidden to use 90% of their skills when they go to boxing

All of Floyd's excuses after an amateur made boxing look easy.

.Floyd is 40.
.Floyd didn't really train
.Floyd carried him
.Floyd bet on himself to win in the 10th round (No proof.)
Floyd gave Conor brain damage. Not true.

Klitscho "He produced beautiful boxing"

Sugar ray "He impressed me"

Harry Khan"10 out of 10 performance. He surprised me."

[
Errol Spencer"He did good, he can box again."

Sugar Ray"Very impressed."

Chris Van Heerden"I didn't expect him to do as good as he did. Well done brother."

Danny Garcia"I give him a B+. He did good."

[

Adrian Broner"He'd beat Victor Ortiz."

[

Mike Tyson"I give him an A."

"He did way better than everyone thought he would do. Floyd didn't carry him. If he could have knocked him out in the first round, he would have."

Lol comparing Wmma and MMA?
Just stop

MMA is more entertaining than Boxing.
MMA can appear more exciting than boxing because the participants have no defensive skills, so more strikes will land. Much like how you see triple digit blowouts in HS football because of mismatches.

To me it's like asking what requires more skills. MMA or Football. Different sports, different skills. Sure some skills might cross platforms but both require just as much skill.

Boxing is a true art form, and to master it takes a very talented athlete. That said, learning one aspect of combat sports like boxing as opposed to the multiple talents it takes to be a successful MMA fighter has to make MMA a lot harder to learn. MMA to me is harder to learn just because there is MORE to learn. I can't do either though, so I am not exactly an expert on the subject. Just seems to make sense.

I don’t think we’re talking about training here. I agree that MMA training is physically harder. I think we’re talking about the difficulty in becoming a top ranked athlete in MMA vs. Boxing, in which case Boxing is way harder.

In many MMA divisions a bum can become a top 20 fighter. In boxing there is way more real competition.

some dumbs here still are saying " but mma is more real, in the street fig... blah blah blah..." guys neither one is good or bad for street fight, stop with that non sense, is much harder to get the level of loma in boxing than conor in mma, that shit is obvious

Sports are hard....

Saying that one sport is harder than another is strange. There are sports that have a really high entry-level to even perform the first movements: for example gymnastics rings. Or, try watching kids play volleyball: it's insufferable, the group needs to be minimally competent for the thing to make sense.

One is not "harder" than the other.

The "talent pool" argument is an entirely different discussion, IMO a different topic actually.
