Both champs tonight showed that there are levels to this game.

DC showed his ability to exploit your weaknesses whether it's wrestling or stand up. He did get hit but he landed better shots on Volkan in the striking. He dominated the wrestling, which I wouldn't expect Volkan to win at.

Stipe showed his experience and ability to stick to a gameplan. His boxing was on point, as well as his wrestling.

Both challengers showed gaping holes in their game. Both were way to anxious for the KO.

Volkan showed his lack of ground game and looked like he shouldn't have been in there with DC at all.

Ngannou showed his lack of discipline hunting the KO and inexperience when taken to deep waters.

All in all, the champs made the challengers look like they didn't belong at this level AT ALL. Not saying the challengers can't win the title one day, but as of now, they have some work to do.

I think Volkan earned his shot but I agree with you for most part.
I honestly believe there are only levels you can attain during championship fights and Miocic and Cormier showed it.

To be fair though, DC usually makes everyone look like that save for JBJ.

All Stipe has left is Cain...and if he beats him. Stipe is the greatest HW of all-time.

Both challenger were worthy oponents the Champions are just that good.
And both challengers looked for the ko because it's their best plan, they got in good shots but not clean enough on hard heads.

Both challengers gassed in the first round. Both within the first two minutes.

    Right.
I was really glad to see both challengers got their beating cause they talked much shit.
Champs were calm on all pressers, e.t.c. but did their job well.
Remember what Rogers2 was speaking prior to fight with Stipe?
    He will finish him, etc.
    Where's he now?
Same for Vulcan, he just got toyed and finished.

Both challengers also came from countries where MMA isn't that popular. There was no way a Swiss and a Cameroonian man were both taking belts on the same night.

Fights provide the answers. Anything before is just conjecture. Harsh truths were found out tonight but it ain't Stipe or DC at fault.

True. Ngannou past the second round was as technical as a TUF reject.

Kimbo Slice was way more technical.
Hell, even Bob Sapp has been able to outstrike Hoost.

Results were not surprising as my pocketbook can attest to this.

Like I said Derek Anderson out grappled volkan and took good shots and beat him in bellator... it was obvious DC would do it as well.

Everyone can slow that Ngannou train.......knocking out chinny fucking AA and chinny overeem isn't a huge statement these days.stipe made him look like a rookie.

Glad I bet heavy on the real champs not the UFC hyped BS.

Oh and didn't pay for it either fuck u dana!!!

He has already surpassed Cain....Cain is probably the most overrated champion in UFC history.....

sure, he held the belt for a while.....but lets keep things in perspective.....he had two LONG layofffs as HW champion totalling 986 days (33 months)....you take that away, and his championship time is no more impressive than Tim Sylvia's

A few more successful defenses and the Fedor comparisons are going to start....but Cain is not as successful as champion as Stipe....

    All true.

However, the reason why I put Cain in such a high pedestal is not because of his accomplishments but because of the complete skillset he brings to the table. His biggest weakness is that he is brittle outside of the cage. I know he tapped out to Werdum but the fight was extremely close and Werdum has a legit claim to being the all-time great as well. If Stipe defeats Cain he easily surpasses Fedor and it is no longer an argument, imo.

Right now it is arguable who is the best HW of all-time. If Stipe beats someone like Cain....his resume is untouchable.

Both earned their shots and were the logical challengers.

Always be wary of the 1st round KOs guys, that show no other skill set, going into a title fight. Rarely are those fighters well rounded.

It would take a bit more for me to put him ahead of Fedor. Fedor has beaten many UFC champs, was basically undefeated for 10 years and he was the lineal UFC HW champion for WAY longer than ANY active UFC HW champ.....

Fedors resume is on another level.....

The only fighters I have close to him are GSP and DJ. GSP surpasses Fedor with a win over Woodley or Whitaker.....but i wont give him the top spot for beating Bisping.....

There aren't a lot of warm bodies in these divisions to throw in there.
