Call of Duty: Balck Ops 4 is set to be revealed on May 17th, with reports from Polygon and Charlie Intel stating that Treyarch has decided to drop the game's single-player component, doubling down on the title's multiplayer modes.

Reports from Charlie Intel and Kotaku have also stated that Black Ops 4 will feature a Battle Royale mode, with Raven Software being recruited to develop this new game mode to fill the "content gap" that was left after the game's single-player mode was dropped.

Call of Duty's single player campaigns have been very hit and miss in recent years, with Call of Duty: WWII featuring a more traditional campaign mode which pleased many longtime fans of the series. Even so, the game's focus has been primarily on the game's multiplayer for quite some time, with many gamers ignoring the title's single-player component.

Activision has stated that they are "keenly aware" of the success of Battle Royale games, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 acting as an ideal opportunity to release an entry into the new genre.

So what do you guys think about them dropping the Campaign mode?
Personally I don't play multiplayer games so this is a huge disappointment for me. Their campaign modes have been hit or miss lately, but they have been all enjoyable for me.

Linear single player shooters have been done to death.

I think that a campaign that last 10 hours is worthless. Everybody knows the soul of the game is online.

I dont mind that, i haven't finished a campaign in COD since BLOPS2

Exactly. I know a ton of CoD players who get the game every year and none of them even touch the single-player. There's been trophy/achievement data on it and it's shown that less than half of diehard CoD players beat the campaign. They may as well...why waste all that time and money on a mode that isn't that important when they could use it on improving MP and adding more maps. I'm surprised they didn't do it sooner.

That's my favorite genre and it seems to be a dying breed.

Whelp, there's always Metroid Prime coming. But I hear you...I like hack and slash games and those have been few and far between. Just hang on...this stuff is always cyclical and they'll eventually get back into favor.

if its online only,i won't be getting it.

GIVE US SUMMIT!
and some COD 5 maps!

what a disaster. Treyarch is garbage anyways. The guns sound like rattlesnakes and the graphics are always cartoonish.

A little disappointing because I liked the Black Ops storyline (only played the first two, number 3 is in my backlog). Would have liked to see it continue.

Edit: just read somewhere that Black Ops 3 isn’t a continuation of the Mason family story, so presumably Black Ops 4 wouldn’t have been either. In that case I couldn’t care less.

Regardless I think I’m done with the series anyway. I own every COD from 3 all the way to Infinite Warfare but didn’t bother with WWII. I can’t justify why I bought any at all after Advanced Warfare since I only played online with my brother who stopped at that one because he never got a PS4.

Original black ops was my favorite, specialist in MW3 was amazing, but the series took a nose dive after blops...

I also dont understand why anyone would skip the campaigns, I have to play through it at least once or I feel like its a complete waste of money.

It's fake. The guy who said this admitted as much.

This is dumb. COD campaigns are underrated af to be honest.

If it doesn't have campaign they should lower the price, they'll nickel and dime their money back anyways.
