Black Sails (Starz)

Ya need to watch into 2nd series. It takes its time setting shit up. Good show, the Madame that people are hot over is no e looking but the way she has that chr speaking is fucking infuriating. The reveal about captain flints motivation is great.
yeah, the accent she uses is rough on the ears

This smokeshow word. I hate it. It doesn't even make sense. A smoke show is something to disguise something else no? Like let me escape while people can't see through this cloud of smoke!

Lol sorry not singling you out personally it's just been irritating me lately.
Alhamdulillah

Joe Rogan keeps calling Geoff Bezoz botox hag gf a smokeshow, there's no way he means that's she's sexy

Good show but hard to get into, that being said it just gets better and better

(Took me 2 tries to start watching)

I remember like it bit less than Vikings, but still good

Cool characters, great style/costumes/atmosphere/look

Underrated show, don't consider it inferior than Spartacus (and share some awkward traits with it) yet it got way less success iirc

For whatever reason would throw there Marco Polo too

It's above average, but it's accurately described as a soap opera. The show had a real opportunity to offer incisive commentary on the legacy of European imperialistic, colonial histories through a three-way power struggle for the Caribbean's riches, and how that influenced the golden age of piracy, but instead it went the way of woke shit programming, and managed to reduce that global issue to a silly critique of the historic repression of gays through one man's lost lover. Something that had no impact whatsoever on how that power struggle shook out in real history. Sigh.

The silver lining is the performances in the show are fantastic. Above all, there's consolation in Toby Stephen's lead performance as Captain Flint, especially in the final season. It's phenomenal. Deserved at least some major nominations. He proved to be every bit his mother's son.

Also, sex. It was filling the Starz void left by Spartacus. We could use more of that. A proper, pulp, hyperviolent, soap opera softcore porn targeting chiefly men. Those were in vogue for a while. They had a tough time finding their space when Game of Thrones sort of usurped their niche appeal while simultaneously being the biggest show in the world. Can't think of one that's on, currently.
