Personally I favor Longstreet over Lee.
Lee was just the best high ranking officer left alive, not actually the best officer available.
Longstreet survived the war , smart guy.

george washington is one of the GOAT leaders in human history.
even the king of england, after his defeat, said george washington was the greatest character of his time
people know him as the founding father, but dont understand the magnitude of how far he went to not only avoid being given too much power, but also to destroy any structures that could be used by someone else later
Washington was commander and chief of the continental army and all the soldiers were die-hard loyal to him (he spent $450,000 of his own money on the army AND fought on the front lines with his soldiers), they wanted to make him king. He said the US shouldn't have a king and declined it. Then he publicly resigned as commander and chief of the army, so that he couldnt use them to seize power and gave congress full control of the nations future without having to worry about him becoming a dictator. that resignation is why the king of england praised washington so highly
then, as the first president, much of his duties and powers werent defined, so he constantly had opportunities to give himself more power, but intentionally gave himself as little as necessary, so there wouldnt be a precedent for later presidents to be too powerful. he initially turned down the idea of a presidential salary, then accepted it only because he wanted to set a precedent of a salary so that people who were poor enough to need it would be able to run and assume office.
crazy to think that people kept trying to hand him the world and he kept declining it out of principle. i cant think of any current high level politician who would behave the same
