BJJ in San Francisco or San Diego

Gracie San Diego with Regis Lebre and Royler Gracie is a great school. I recommended the school to another guy on vacation from Norway and he loved the place. Great people, nice change from sport jj to self defense. Plus Regis is a great instructor. I would also recommend J. Faria at Alliance. I think you will really like GSD. Stop by and try a free class, if you don't like it, go to ATOS.
 
What's the atmosphere like at Kurt's. I have read on these boards that there is some kind of tough guy attitude there.

That is what I thought too. But no people were friendly but there is focus on getting better.

There was probably a couple of dudes who weren't tough guys but they were there to get better. And if you just wanted to chat they were the wrong people to drill with.

Honestly Kurt is like most other gyms I attend during SF. But I really enjoyed my time there I would happily make that my main gym.
