The dude took a short notice late replacement title fight against a dude who already KOd him. He comes out and KOs Luke stiff, a guy who had really looked unbeatable around this time.

Bisping, 10 year veteran finally reaches gold. A cinderella story, and he came up through TUF. This guy literally fought his way from the bottom to a title in 10 years. Thats amazing.

First title defence comes around and he wants to make some $$$. Well deserved, this guy has almost lost an eye and who knows what all that damage is going to do him down the road. Hendo/Bisping made sense at this time. Bisping wants to make more money as champ, Hendo on his way out, already a good story line from UFC 100. This PPV was bigger than anything ping vs top 10 woulf have been. Everyone's makes more money on this rematch. Ping avenges his prior loss.. still a tough fight for mike. Again he took a rematch against a guy who KOd him. Bisping isn't ducking shit, he doesnt give a fuck. He is a true warrior.

Then he takes another big money fight, infact one of the best money fights you can get.. GSP,the GOAT. Everyone pretends that Mike is taking an easy fight here. Mike loses by vicious sub, and gets paid. The dude is at the end soon, he has a family and he put alot of his health on the line for us. Im happy he got the belt and then got paid. Mike is a beast.

Oh yeah now 3 weeks later and hes fighting Gastelum. Get real. The guy was a good champ.

Nah, he's a good (not great, but good) fighter who likes his job. He stays active and likes to entertain. Beating Rockhold was one of the great moments in the sport. But he was a lousy champion.

A good champion would have not ducked the top 5 in his division after getting the strap.

Bisping is a good fighter, but he was not a great champion. One successful title defense against an 80 year-old (who still managed to bust his face up pretty bad), and then he lost it to GSP. How can you call that a great champion?

No his worst period was as champion
The Hendo fight was so wrong and he still got smacked.

Now he lost the belt I'm actually rooting for him against Gastelum

Bisping is probably my favourite fighter of all-time (I got into MMA watching TUF 3), but even I wouldn't say he was a great champion. I have no problem with him taking the fights that he did; he was a great fighter for a long time, as well as a company man, and deserved the right to call his shots at the end of his career. People would have been head over heels for Hendo II and GSP if Mike didn't have the title around his waist. But since he did, everyone got their vaginas in a knot because he took those fights.

Yeah, because he cherry picked opponents at a time when MW was the most competitive and stacked it's ever been. Instead of facing killers row, which is what the vast majority of us expect from a champion, he looked to take the easy way out but got his ass beat in both fights; one a 46 year old man in his retirement fight, the other a 4 year retired WW.

Bisping is the worst champion UFC has ever had and it's pathetic to see him talk about any other fighter when he has the audacity to blatantly duck every single one of them.

We all know a person in life who has a big mouth and is annoying as fuck and will yap at anyone because he knows nothing will come of it and he'll run and hide if someone gets in his face. That's Michael Bisping.

Bisping's best attribute is his perseverance. Winning the title was a great moment.

However, it remains that in terms of absolute ability, he isn't a top 5 MW.

2nd worse champ in the last 10 years. How long was he champ? The dude did not defend against the rightful contenders even once.

Fuck him and I hope he gets KTFO a couple more times

Very solid career. I don't think a great MW champion. He defended the belt twice and lost to GSP coming back off a 4-year layoff and he had a rough fight against 46-year-old Hendo who was ranked #13 at the time. Bisping deserved the belt. He took the Rockhold fight on 2 weeks notice and got the early KO when Rockhold looked like a world beater at the time and had already beaten Bisping in their first match-up by submission. Bisping wanted to get paid well on his last few fights and Hendo and GSP were big money fights for him, so good for him. Impressed he took Gastelum on short notice. He really didn't need to take this route. That is a dangerous opponent after losing a fight in early November. So if he beats Gastelum, good for Bisping. If he loses people will say Bisping was never that good and I don't think that is fair. Bisping is 38 and has 38 pro fights with 28 of them in the UFC and his UFC record is 20 - 8. A lot of wear and tear against a pretty heavy line-up of opponents. He lost some big fights, but he won one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. So Bisping is in a respectable place IMO.

Bisping trash talk lasted longer than Bisping Era.

Bisping is an awesome fighter, but he was in no way a good champion. He defended ONCE against a 46 year old guy (a legend) who was ranked #11...and he almost lost. Then he stalled for 14 months and when he fought, he was finished by a perennial WW (GOAT) who hadn't fought in 4 years.

Bisping was a TERRIBLE champion.

So many people care about PPV buys, not like you have stock in the company TS.

Bisping was an awful champ. Worse than Serra because Serra was a fucking man and fought the best guy. Sure he lost but so would've Bisping.

I would have respected it more if he fought a true MW contender.

But, he won, and successfully defended his belt.

Nothing else really matters.
