Bisping is the most overrated MW champ in UFC history

His record vs top competition is awesome

Shadface L
Hendo L
Wand L
Shael L
Veets L
Kennedy L
Rock L
Anderoid W
Rock W
Hendo W
GSP L
Kelvin L

rofl and I'm doing Ping a yuge favor by calling the versions of Anderoid and Hendo he fought "top competition" when in reality they weren't top 5 at the time

Been said already but who is overrating him? Practically everyone recognizes him as a limited overachiever who had one shining moment in a title fight. No one considers him the best MW (or anyW) ever but he's picked himself off the mat more than once and made a decent career for himself in MMA so he's gained the respect of many MMA fans. I've never really liked the guy that much but a job pretty well done I'd say.

You can't be an overrated champ when virtually everyone discredits your reign. Try again haters.

He was never overrated. Everyone knew he wasn't the best MW fighter in the world when he was "champ".

His last two fights just solidified the belief that 98% of the MMA world already had.

Beats Rockhold on a bad day. Beats an old ass Henderson. Gets beat by a retired WW UFC fighter in novelty fight. And now gets beat by a scrub in Gastelum. Bisping should just retire and try to save his reputation that he was a legit champ. Rockhold, Weidman, Romero, Whitaker, Souza, and Vitor would embarrass him in a rematch or fight.

At least he defended ( successfully ). And, there have been fuckloads of champs that never successfully defended.

Conor, and GDR didn’t even try. They just handed the belts back to the company.

No reason to hate on Bisping. He’s an asshole, but he’s EARNED respect.

I did not think that too many fans rated him all that highly. It was pretty clear to anyone with eyes that he was a "champion" who wanted nothing to do with defending against the actual contenders in the MW division.

bisping = serra
always a B fighter, but in an un-earned title shot scored a major fluke

The only group who overrated Bisping were GSP fans trying to erase 5 years of Anderson-ducking from our minds while promulgating the illusion that GSP required watermelon-size balls to move up while Mikey happened to be wearing the strap.

Kelvin disproved that fantasy for them REAL fast.

Thanks, Kelvin.

I do agree that this makes GSP's win over Bisping a little fruity.

Just proves how ridiculously overrated Anderson's title reign was. Even on PEDs he couldn't even beat bisping.

Meanwhile two blown the fuck up welterweights, one comming off a half a decade layoff, do what Andy was never able to accomplish.

MW GOAT ROFL... Andy would have got his shit royally pushed in by the best MWs of today. #exposed.

Weidman proved that Andy was never as good as people said he was. He reigned during an era where fighters were still very naive about all the aspects of the sport. Look what happened when Silva had to fight fighters who didn't want to play his game. The dude would throw a tantrum in the middle of the fight. It wasn't until a fighter like Weidman came along and actually learned how to use Silva's strengths against him. Silva was a good fighter who looked like a god because the competition was so raw at the time.

All of this is silly. Anderson was the champion for 6 years straight. If Anderson is overrated than every MW ever is overrated.

overrated?

He was lineal champ there isn't much more to it and most people viewed him as a weak champ that got to where he was through a combo of perseverance and luck

People should love Bisping, probably closest thing to an average dude becoming champ, none of these fighters are average and Bisping is bigger than 95 per cent of dudes, but I believe Bisping is clean and he's not the most gifted fighter athletically either

Am happy he touched Gold

You can be overrated and still be good. People like to make the excuse that Weidman beat an old Silva, despite the fact that Silva was still tooling fighters from his era. Weidman beats any version of Silva. Yet so many fanboys can't admit this. Compare the list of fighters Silva has beat during his reign, to the fighters that are making waves in the sport today in the mw division. There's no way his career is the same if he had to fight the murderers that exist today in the sport.
