Just finished this big camp chopper for an outdoorsy friend of mine.
20 inches OA, 14 inch blade, 1/4" thick. (about 51 cm oa, 36 cm blade, 6,4 mm spine) Made from nablo spring steel and birch burl. Going for a bit of a rustic look, I only hand sanded to 180 grit, as this will see a lot of heavy use and I also wanted a finish that my friend can easily touch up himself if it gets stained or rusted.

    That's really cool.

For research purposes, how well would it cut through an infidel's neck?

I think the general idea of a camp knife is that's it's an all rounder. Can chop and split wood, clear brush, food prep etc. while it it won't be as good as an axe at wood processing or as good as a machete at clearing brush or as good as a kitchen knife at food prep its capable of all them things in one package

That makes sense, but chopping and splitting wood with a knife sounds like a terrible idea.

The splitting part is usually done by batoning, where you hit the spine of the knife with a stick through the log. Some of the big camp knives are quite effective choppers

Se Asia has a history of large multi use bush knives, here's a vid with a range of uses
