Does anyone know if it's legal for UK nationals to play with the Costa Rican books (5Dimes, Bookmaker, Heritage etc.)?

I tried to make a deposit at 5dimes via bitcoin (I have never used bitcoin before). My bitcoin transaction is still unconfirmed after 3 days (I had used the default transaction fee of MultiBit, which was rather small). The deposit in my 5dimes account history is now listed as cancelled. MultiBit says the payment is still sending. When I asked 5dimes if my account will be credited if the payment gets through they said "it could be".
    Any advice?

I would give it another couple days and then chat with 5d. I have never deposited using BTC so I don't really know. All my withdrawals have been pretty straightforward though.

If it still doesn't go through in a few days and 5d chat is no help then talk to Multibit and maybe they can cancel the transaction as the recipient didn't accept the BTC funds.

One issue could be copy and pasting the BTC address correctly. Make sure you are copy and pasting it and not trying to just retype it correctly lol.

Yes i use it currently to sell my btc, i had already built up some rep from buying in the past so it was easy for me to start my own store. You should start out by just searching under quick sell for preferred payout method then finding someone with over 100+ rep and 100% reputation you can also go to the sellers to profile and read the feedback others left for them.

Haven't deposited in a long time. The one time I had a problem was when I copied/pasted the address wrong.

I have read that the default transaction fees are sometimes set too low these days, so maybe increase the fee in the future. Anyway, please let us know what happens.

My bitcoins finally got through after 6 days (2 confirmations so far). 5dimes told me my account will be credited as soon as the transaction reaches enough confirmations.

Default transaction fees in BTC wallets are indeed often set too low nowadays. From what I understand this is a result of inefficiencies in the system causing congestion and in effect it is making the necessary transaction fees for quick transactions go up. I learned this recently when one of my transactions got bogged down for a couple of days even though I used the same default fees in the app that I always used. One good free tool I can recommend to help accelerate lagging transactions is this free service by some BTC miners that help push your bogged down transactions through quicker as long as you don't have your original fee set to zero. https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

What do you guys use to track and analyse your bets? I'm thinking a spreadsheet template is the way to go, the text document I'm using now isn't very good for analyzing past wagers

I know this doesn't help as apparently Quadriga is only available to Canadians but it is the shit. Maybe there is an equivalent exchange in the US or available to the US?

From the Quadriga dashboard I can:
    -buy/sell BTC
-Convert BTC to CAD or USD
    -Convert CAD/USD to BTC

It literally is the the click of the mouse. I am not trying to be a dick here by bragging... There must be a similar type of exchange available for Americans.

    Try Kraken

    https://www.kraken.com/en-us/about

You want to have your BTC on an exchange so you can easily convert it between USD and BTC without much hassle.

BLOCKCHAIN is really just a wallet which fine for holding BTC but you can't do much with it in terms of currency conversion.

    much obliged

just surprised, tho.. no US people are turning your BTC into USD with ease right now? i was able to do it previously at coinbase and circle, but hard to do it now.

i can't pay any bills w/it, cause all i do is pay rent and CC bills (everything else goes on my CC's).. and can't pay them with BTC

I don't have an account with Kraken so I can't check. But I would hope they have a cash out option that goes directly to your CC.

If they don't then I would look around to find an exchange that has that cash out option.

Then your cashout procedure would look like

5d--->Blockchain --->Kraken (convert BTC to USD) --->cashout directly to CC.

I just keep my BTC as BTC for now, but when I cash out eventually I have no interest in doing it with anything that is connected to a bank account or credit card just like I have no interest in connecting my bank account or credit card to a sportsbook. LocalBitcoins seems like a good option if you don't mind meeting people in person at a local Dunkin Donuts or someplace public to get cash money, especially since it appears that you can charge top dollar to do it.

This has to optimum from a security/anonymity point of view. Also as a speculator I do think holding BTC right now IS a good idea. That shit is gonna go up in the next few months.

I won't be surprised at all to see BTC hit 1800 or 2k before the end of the year.

Nice work Jim. I wish I had more liquidity to do the same.
