yah but i mean what exactly does "higher" or "lower" mean ... like if you look at arlovski he opened at 3.50 and is 4.40 now and has the green arrow sooo his odds are "higher" ... on the other hand ngannou opened at 1.29 but is 1.24 now and he also has a higher arrow ... (this is all with 5dimes)
Or perhaps i shouldnt think in terms of opening and current odds .. its just compared to the previous odds that were available sooo if some move +0.01 in odds then they get the green arrow and vice versa...
it's because it's in relation to the last available price at that book, not the opening odds. I guess they adjusted nganou's line a tick or 2 higher which is minuscule, however the difference between arlovski's last price and his current one was bigger.
they also might be trying to get a bit more action on the line to get a better indication of where it's heading, or maybe this far out from the fight someone or a few ppl bet arlovski's line but not enough to lower it, but just enough to bump nganou's price a tiny bit.
variance of bettors selections on a fight is a lot higher this far out from fight day, compared to a day or 2 before, so a few big bet's can influence the lines more than closer to the fight.
that's why there is so much value in certain opening lines. because bookmakers will always get lines wrong from time to time, and in a niche betting sport like mma it can be hard for them to determine which way ppl will bet at certain times due to the relatively low amount of money wagered on it compared to bigger sports.
generally though if both fighters have a green arrow only one of them will of moved noticeably, and it's easy to spot which in conjunction with other books odds on there, and it usually happens in the weeks before the fight for reasons above. the graph of price movement on there helps too.
