Best TUF to date?

jeez... who the hell watches this show for the drama? go watch real housewives or something.

tuf 15 was the most stacked tuf, and has the most current fighters in the ufc. it also featured one of the best fights in tuf history between iaquinta and jury.

al iaquinta, michael chiesa, myles jury, james vick are all on the upper end of the 155 division right now. plus a lot of guys lower down like james krause, drew dober, jon tuck, joe proctor, and vinc pichel are still signed to the ufc. (wtf happened to pichel anyways? he's on a 2 fight win streak and hasn't fought since 2014.) also some pretty solid guys who have since been cut like cruickshank and justin lawrence.

That's pretty much the whole point of the show, and they have like 30 seasons, so apparently plenty of people watch it for that reason.

umm... the point is the show is to take 16-32 unheralded prospects, have a tournament, and hope a couple of them end up contenders or champions.

they've had 30 seasons because the show keeps consistently finding solid contenders.

Are you implying they couldn't do this without a show or a tournament format?

There are only a finite number of shows the UFC can put on each year, and a finite number of roster slots.

There are many ways the UFC can scout for talent. It just so happens that the best way to scout for talent is to make the guys who seem pretty good fight each other. And if you're going to make them fight each other, why not televise the fights?

They could absolutely televise them by themselves, but they instead structure the season around the ongoings in the house and the gym for dramatic reasons. Why? It sells.

TUF 5 is the best. Good fights, the season was stacked in terms of talent. The fight between Noah and Marlon Sims was entertaining as well.

Actually TUF has shown that some of the big names were just all hype while some of the fighters who were unknown and thought to be bad were in fact very good. Since the talent in other promotions is so uneven it is hard to gauge talent at that level until the fighters actually fight each other.

This is one of the things I love about TUF - it shows who is good and who isn't. All the hype in the world and favortism from one of the coaches won't help a fighter win. Ultimately they have to win themselves.

TUF is pretty unique in this regard. You get to match up 16-32 prospects and they fight one another. It helps filter the talent far better than just a few fights in various organizations. As a bonus for the UFC it also tends to show the mental toughness and weakness of the fighters - for instance if they are alcoholics or if they have other emotional problems this often comes out on the show.

which TUF had Chris Leben? that was memorable to me
