    I know there will be some people that will offer some great obscure blues band/person. That's what I want.

    Rolling Stones.

    There is no substitute.

    Depends on what mood im in. But as far as blues/bluesy stuff i enjoy. SRV changed everything for me, made me pick up a guitar. All the old school guys like muddy and howlin wolf are awesome. Peter green etc etc

    The Stones are ok, but Zeppelin blows them out of the water imo


    As for straight up blues I prefer the darker stuff from guys like Lightning Hopkins and Son House. Jimi Hendrix also has some badass blues stuff too.

    The blues has roots in blue grass too, which is white people music dating all the way back to hymns being sung on pirate ships and soldiers during various wars. Look into 'House of the rising Sun' for example.


    People who try to claim it is straight up black music are flat out wrong.
