There's a thread in the K-1 section regarding "American kickboxers or lack thereof"... I'm not going to bring up the debate again here, as that would accomplish nothing.

What I would like is your opinions on the best MT gyms here in the US?

We all know of the more accomplished gyms in Thailand and Holland, but rarely do I see anything regarding gyms here in the states. I'll throw out a few of the more well known places AKA/San Jose, Fairtex/San Francisco, Five Points/NY....etc, but I have never actually trained at any of these facilities so couldn't tell you the actual level of training.

*Disclaimer*- Yes I did use the search function, and no I did not find anything relevant. Don't believe me, type in "Muay Thai US" or "best gyms" and see how many bogus hits you get. Also I know there is a school directory up top, but no discussions are allowed.

Sityodong in the Boston, MA area is pretty highly recommended.

The Sityodtong west coach branch is very good too.

Master Toddy's in Vegas is also another well-known one.

I train at 5points and we are literaly neighbors with Kru Phil Nurse's The Wat in Chinatown!

Though the Wat is a good place to train, 5Points is a larger facility and the atmosphere is not that gritty. There is also Sitan Gym in Queens and Boradin Gym in Brooklyn.

Each of these places I mentioned are good, its just the matter of price and the right fit for you.:icon_chee

I'm moving to the city in October and most likely signing up. Very excited.

I was told to get in the best shape possible before signing up so I can get the most of it. From what I hear their classes are pretty intense.

I'm ready to go and looking forward to learning a new method of striking.

I thought the warm up was intense on my first day (mtn view location)! The four rounds of jumping rope after not jumping rope in years (since the neighbor's sister used to double dutch, LOL)...my calves were TIGHT!

But the thing about Siam is that I believe that they're still suspended from CAMTAO activity.

I wouldnt worry too much over that. They still produce top notch fighters and trainers. Ajahn suchart is world class. The essence of Muay Thai burns so strongley in that gym i dont think anything can take away from that gym. even a suspension from that association

I'd consider not being able to compete, a pretty big deal. Don't get me wrong, I've got a lot of respect for Ajahn Suchart and from what I've heard, Siam's a pretty good gym.

Thanks everyone.. Most I've heard of, some I haven't.

No one has mentioned Kru Nestor's Ultimate Gym which I think would be up there with the rest.

Saekson's place is not too far from where I grew up. Next time I visit, I may try to scedule a private or attend a class.

Janjira's gym has a great reputation. Heard a lot of good things about Sityodong. Basically places already mentioned.
Duke Roufus Gym in Milawaukee is a great place too. I've fought two guys from his gym and both were extremely tough victories to earn.
Chai Sirisute is a guy to get ahold of as well.

Just because they suspended them that takes absolutley nothing away from the gym. It is the best in canada and one of the best in North America. Not spoiled by the whole "MMA" Craze and has stuck to its roots. If you want Muay Thai there really is no other gym to go to Esspecially if your living in canada
