You've got to be an uber competitive guy to get to the level Hughes did, i think he's just feeling the fire for one last hurrah and if Bellator will pay him good money like they did Ken and Royce then why not?

Sakuraba should have one fight in NYC in his portfolio. We'd all watch.

Why the talk of Matt Hughes? Has he hinted at a comeback?

I'd dig seeing a sub grappling or a straight up catch wrestling match between them.

Oh, in that case the Saku fight makes sense, if they can agree a Saku/Newton kind of confrontation would be great

I'd dig that, too. But again, only as a sub grappling or catch wrestling match.

Sorry, I meant for Hughes and Saku to make a gentlemen's agreement a la Saku/Newton back in the day

As TakadaDojoKeith said, make it a submission/grappling match

They could even do Hughes against Renzo Gracie. Built in story line with Hughes smashing Royce. Plus Renzo is in NY.

Grappling or MMA. I don't think it would matter.

Not sure I'd be happy to watch Hughes and Renzo go at it again, the last fight had virtually zero grappling, it was pretty boring.
    Fucking K1 Hughes was born!

I still believe in a legends league, someone needs to do it, with rules that favor the older gentlemen to stop too much damage

Saku/Renzo 3 would be nice, though the Metamoris match wasn't what I hoped it would be

How about just grappling? Don't want to see Saku end up like this ever again

Probably not. I think he's not financially stable, at least when taking into consideration his long fight history. He should have a nest egg, but I don't think he does. I dunno.

That was the worst beating (versus Arona) I have ever seen in MMA because those were knees to his cranium, with great compressive forces on his neck as well. After the fight, he sat up Indian style and calmly let cornermen tend to his wounds.

    True fighter.

There are gifs that I'm sure someone can post of Arona sticking his fingers into Saku's cuts to make it worse.

That's what I heard. It sucks, it's always the fighter who gets screwed first. Then the fans. The promoters eat steak.
