That's not galvanized pipe -- it looks like black iron pipe.

It'd actually be black steel pipe. Good job improvising on the handles though, CTAC and Urban as well.

may be you are right about it not being galvanized.
i went with 1" because it was cheaper to get standard plates (got 310 pounds for 35 dollars from craiglist), and my oly bar/plates are in my basement and these will be staying in the garage, so i could take them out for walks.
if ill be running into a problem with the pipe bending there is always rebar that can slide right inside.
