This is so infuriating. Not the discussion of racism, because there is no doubt that it exists, but the white privilege classes and being hit over the head with how white this is, or that is.
The oscarssowhite garbage and virtually every article in entertainment weekly, for example, being about women not being directors, or "no good roles for people of color" and how white dominant everything is and how evil that is. Want to take a guess when the last time an editor for entertainment weekly was a person of color? Well, it hasn't happened yet. Same for time magazine. So what I would like to do every time I read one of those articles is to take the magazine and roll it up and stick it up their ass, then give them a nice lemon juice enema.
Then the white privilege glasses were a treat as well. Because the cop just runs at the guy because he is black. Ok. I wonder if those glasses would do anything if they could be reversed, and then put on the narrator, and he could take off his blinders when walking through the black neighborhoods where blacks are shooting other blacks daily? Would he still be concerned about the privilege classes?
I had a great upbringing, with two working parents in the home, and if you expect me to feel guilty about that, or out on some privilege glasses, well, you can stick a flaming pinecone up your ass because it isn't going to happen. There are inequalities in the world, and we should work to fix those problems, but the inherent advantages to being white have nothing to do with single parent households and the violence and crime in black America. Maybe we do something to try and narrow that advantage gap, but that won't erase bad decisions when it comes to having children with a drug dealer/gang member who is locked up and unable to raise the children he would not raise if he were not behind bars in the first place. Trying to make white people feel guilt for things they have no control over, such as being white, will not change the dropout rate, strict adherence to crime, not having two parents in the home to raise children that keeps people poor generation after generation.
And that goes for both poor whites and poor blacks. Maybe poor whites may have a slightly easier time changing their station in life if they so choose, but the problem is even given the opportunity, many would not take that opportunity. Regardless of race, people that work and have jobs should be able to survive in this country. I would be more than happy to see my tax dollars go to insuring that people that work hard have homes and are able to pay bills and buy food. The people that don't work, well let's just say I would rather help those willing to help themselves.
I am just sick of this garbage programming. It could have been a comedy had that guy been robbed or shot, and we all know which side of the town that would happen on.
