what you attempt to do here is not objective, but nitpicking what people see as eye poking by ignoring fingers that touch the eye, and demanding a solid entry to the socket.

That's not how people view an eye poke, if you do a scratching motion or push fingers on the eyelid, those count as pokes. What's the line of thought here? Erase Jones' faults or to be argumentative. Both are tedious approaches that don't really say anything.

It's not nitpicking, it's a statement of definition, one the people are not using correctly.

A "scratching motion" is vague and also by definition not a poke. Im not "ignoring" fingers touching the eye, I'm saying that is explicitly what is required to justify a poke. Or even the eyelid assuming the ye is closed.

The only reason it's continuing for so long is because people can't accept an elementary concept and that they somehow see it as a defense for Jones as opposed to just being right instead of being wrong.

Yes they can. Just warn the fighter in the locker room prefight or warn him the second he tries it during the fight. If the fighter still does it, he is disobeying ref instructions which he can be penalized for.
