Moving your income internationally was a lot harder then as well.The marginal tax rate on the super wealthy was in the 70-90% range during the post-WW2 period.
It's what made us great. That and the GI bill.

It's 45% of households, so that should include at least one person with a job in most cases.
I'm not defending taxing them.They pay taxes, but get them back in the form of subsidies and credits.
Why bother taxing them?
