"Avoid the Olympic lifts"

I don't actually crossfit, just go there for oly lifting.
Sad state of affairs, when people who want to do Oly lifts have to subject themselves to Cross-shit gyms with inflated prices, and the crowd.
 
I think the article is reaching but it isn't absolutely stupid (as far as safety). The amount of daft bastards I see training Olympic lifts by watching a Youtube video is absurd. And the self taught cross-fitters. Kitted out in their Adidas oly shoes and throwing a bar around with no knowledge of what they are doing. Olympic lifting is a specialist game and you need a good coach to get half decent. But of course, if you do have a good coach then fucking A, it will have amazing cross over for some people.

140 kg is a good number.

I can power clean my max full clean for the same amount of reps. I know its a mental thing not being.able to catch more.

I did some oly lifting this morning.....at a crossfit gym.....nothing happened.

Could be technical too. Or you might be just retarded like me.
I can tell I have technical issues. When I clean from mid thigh I catch the bar nice and cleanly on my clavicles. When I clean from the floor I catch it on my front delts. I think I'm initiating the second pull too early when I do it from the floor, the bar is hitting just above the knees instead of mid quad or slightly higher.
 
Early pull would explain why I'm catching too far forward or losing the clean forward in general.

I haven't really done the quick lifts for a good couple of months... So probably 60 kg? But I hang powercleaned 150 from the hip for a double before I started my hiatus. Think I full cleaned 150 for a single. Power snatched more than I snatched and jerked 182 from the racks.





I'm all powah.
 
Did sets of 5 snatching from the knee. Worked up to 145lbs. Getting good at speed under the bar, I felt the bar brush my hair while I was diving.

Anyone else feel like they've done an ab workout after doing snatches and cleans? The quick closing of the hips is almost like a standing ab double crunch.
